What was done to YOUR rig(XJ/MJ) today MECHANICALY????

Re: What was done to YOUR rig today?

We did a H&T on a members 242 and it never had issues with leaks BTW. He had a 4.0, AW4, 242, D44 rear and the XJ front shaft was fully extended when used in the rear and he had to order a custom shaft. roughly 4" of lift, bastard s10/xj leaf pack. And he always had a slight vibe from it also. It was a RE H&T and from what I remember the yoke was kinda crappy, it was basically a slip yoke with the shaft cut off and a washer welded on that wasnt quite centered good enough. To fix the problem, we rolled the jeep and started over on a different one and got a PORC SYE and a 231. Tom Woods sells a whole replacement shaft SYE deal for the 242 but thats a little more $$$ as I am sure you already know. They do 4:1 kits for the 242 also if you are interested.

Good to hear. The tcase the hackntap is going on is on a table at my friends work, half taken apart so install should be easy. Figured i might as well before we put it in.

I also found some good info about XJ driveshafts lengths
http://www.crownautomotive.net/categ...rop-Shaft.html

The first driveshaft I put on has started clicking and vibrating so I need to go get another. Mine was out of a 97 4.0L auto so it was 30.66 in. I think the best one would probably be out of a 4.0L with a manual transmission which would be 29.25 inches but I am not expecting to be able to find one of those.

Re: What was done to YOUR rig today?

but idk i'm also thinking about a TW driveshaft but it alot more moeny but it also looks like a great product and i guy i was talking to has had for 4 years had still has no problems with it.....

Re: What was done to YOUR rig today?

Changed my oil yesterday....and changed the headliner. So much better.

Re: What was done to YOUR rig today?

got it out and washed it-think my downpipe or my flex pipe is leaking not a lot of power. Something to check out at least both have almost no miles on them but a couple of trail runs.

Re: What was done to YOUR rig today?

i used mine to move my room mates jeep....pushed it farther up the drive way then winched it sideways......wishe he woulda left me the key....no i dont....that was fun

Re: What was done to YOUR rig today?

It was traded in on a new truck. I'm sorry guys.

Re: What was done to YOUR rig today?

Started to drive mine out to the cabin and discovered the A/C was no longer functioning. Good thing it only got up to 102* today.

Re: What was done to YOUR rig today?

I picked up some seats from a Freedom edition at the junkyard. I'll swap them in here pretty soon. Nice clean and comfy!

Re: What was done to YOUR rig today?

One of my coworkers bought a set of A/C gauges. Hopefully tomorrow I'll be able to figure out what the deal is with my A/C. Fortunately its finally starting to cool off a little.

You'll have to post some pics after you get your new seats in. How are "Freedom" seats different?

Beats me! :dunce: My seats are 20 years old, been abused, and the passenger seat has a real funky stain in it. :smootch: So these will be a nice upgrade for now.
