What is the best all around item in you tool box?

I have a Mac screwdriver that has a 4x overdrive to spin screws out once you get them loose. I love that thing. I used to have a stubby 3/8" ratchet, too, for tight spaces, but it disappeared.

When it comes to multi-tools, leathermans and gerbers pale in comparison to SOG multi-tools.

I disagree. No clip, and assisted opening is a joke.

My most used tool, been in my pocket for about 5 years.

Snap-on ratcheting screw driver.

As the title says.
You didn't say "in the shop" or "in your rig",big difference! In your rig I would say a Tire Plug kit with about 4packs of plugs.
In the shop its always about the "tool" you need "now" to complete the job your working on. I have tons of vehicle specific tools and make alot of custom tools when needed, but the ones that have saved my butt the most over the last 45yrs are the flexible jaws/magnet style retreivers.

Channel locks. Especially when trying to remove the rusted ass bolts on my jeep.
Can't see using them for that, maybe some "vise-grips"!

Snap-on Ratcheting T-Handle screw driver. Use it every day. Best tool investment ever! Put a little ez-grip on the bit and you can get just about any stubbern panel screw out!

I bought a ratcheting screwdriver off the truck in 93 or 94. Similar to this one, but they were only 20 or 30 bucks back then. Best screwdriver ever.

does this actually exist?!

because if it does, that with a sledge head welded to the back end would be the only tool I ever need.

I'd have to say a hand sledge or an angle grinder is the most useful tool though. You can do anything from brutalize your fingers to breaking everything around the thing you're trying to hit/cut with them.

edit: yes, it does. stanley locking adjustable wrench.
