What do you do at work?

Do you get to use your Jeep to make deliveries when it snows?

I used to be a delivery driver (among other things) in High School when I worked for Pizza Hut...Aside from having to spend many nights running delieveries through out the year, I was usually first to be "asked" during bad weather...seeing as how the regular drivers all had 4 banger econo boxes (Honda's, Ford's, Dodge's..etc etc). I kinda enjoyed it during the bad weather because I could take my time on the run, and the tips were usually much better than average as people were grateful for not having to venture out in bad weather to get dinner. Through out normal weather it sucked as short distances + fast driving + Jeep = bad gas mileage and the tips sucked....not to mention I was trying to make money to pay the loan on the Jeep.

Long gone are those days....I was working on campus in the Engineering Department trying to help freshman not make the same mistakes most of us made when we were them 4 years ago. Lost that job this summer after 2 years thanks to the economy. Just got offered a job at Advance Auto on Friday...background check came back just fine and I did the drug test today..so hopefully i'll be starting there by the end of the week.

US Army

12B/21B Combat Engineer
14J Patriot systems maintainer, current job

In the rear I type OPORDS and evaluate training.

When I'm deployed I deconflict airspace, correlate tracks entering into our MEZ and provide early warning of TBM launches.

I just went back to work today doing my previous job as a "Material Handler" in a powder metal plant. By far the crappiest job around although may not sound so bad at first. I am in charge of getting the mix for every machine in the plant from the beginning of the set-ups to the completion of the order including mix lot changes. My job also includes what most places would call a floor boy, moving pallets, straightening up of the floor, and cleaning presses and discarding/removing all scrap/suspect product from the green end of production. I also work on all presses from 30 Ton up to 550 ton. I am responsible for 33 machines in 2 departments. I would consider my job to be a little bit of die setting and maintenance because I do a little bit of everything.

service manager for a heavy equipment company. scedule mechanics first part of the day, then dealing with customer the rest of the time. but i do get to drive some of the biggest equipment around.

IBEW local 196.
classified as telephone lineman.
currently working as groundman truck driver doing cathodic protection of petroleum pipelines. installing anode ground beds, building and installing voltage rectifiers and cadwelding wires onto mainline pipelines. shitty work for a shitty contractor but i am glad to be working! many of my brothers are not so fortunate right now.

I work as a messenger for a armored truck company. I get to be a dick to people, play with lots of money, and carry guns. Doesn't get any better then that!

The current title is "Maintenance engineer" at an apartment complex. Actual job is "Handyman"
I can't even think "maintenance engineer" without also thinking "Harry Tuttle, heating engineer!"(If you don't get the reference, it means you don't watch enough bad movies.)

You recruiters should dress up like the recruiter from "Starship Troopers", (the book not the movie) The expressions alone would be well worth it. Your percentages would go way down, but you'd bet some of the best recruits going.

currently working on a new building for the phoenix childrens hospital
Oh s**t, he's local!

I Used to work in A ford dealership Until I got screwed over there, Now I work in a independent repair shop working on just about everything.

I'm a carpenter for a municipality. We take care of all the city-owned museums, libraries, parks, fire stations, rec centers, police buildings, courts, boat docks, parking garages, City Hall, etc.

I don't make any money but the benefits are okay. I have any tool I need for a given job. I'm driving a brand new 3/4-ton Chevy work van that I got to build the bulkhead and shelves for. I usually get to pick what project I want to work on.

Everybody I work with is great, which makes it really easy to get up and go to work in the morning. The best part, for me, is that I get to stay outside almost all the time.

Yep, 2nd shift, but I am not working today so I can do that.

I post on my phone too.

Do you drive your XJ to work?

I used to drive my lifted ZJ, but I sold that and now have a lifted XJ, but I have only driven that a few times to work. I mostly drive a really loud POS toyota...

Wait a minute, 2nd shift and posting?? LOL, actually me too 2nd.

i work the counter at a NAPA store. i listen to angry people all day long who have no business repairing any part of thier vehicle, and smile as i hand them parts. sometimes my job is hard, sometimes my job is fun. usually its boring as hell.

My title is "Game Manager". I spend half my time with a pair of binoculars or a night scope, the other half on spread sheets, flow charts and maps. Good job if you like dirt roading, fresh air and mostly night work.

I work at my family's bullet company during the summers and school breaks. When I graduate with my business degree from UA I will work there full time.

I get to do just about all the jobs when they are needed but I would really define my job as R&D when shit's not broke. I am the genius mastermind that will one day be the one behind the wheel (God willing).

Right now I am learning all the ins and outs of presses and the whole mechanics of the shop.

I get more than an hour of range time each week if I want, but my bullets are weak in comparison to LM's cool stuff.

During free time I am either playing mechanic or fabricator for this and that.

UBC local 1148 Olympia WA.

Currently on the "Out of Work" list.

My last job was erecting scaffold in a 15,000 mega watt boiler.
The work was hot, dirty, and exhausting. The pay was great. I worked 323 hours in 5 weeks and grossed a little over 14 grand. The best part is that this power plant has a 60 to 90 day shutdown every year. This was my second year with many more to come.

The crappy thing is there is not hardly any work anywhere near where I live for a commercial carpenter. I guess my "vacation" will be another month or two.

year ago, army engineer,
current, security bum,
1 month into the future, nucleur response force officer

looking forward to the pay and job upgrade!!
