what are you guys using for tubing notchers?

JD2 notcher like the tn-100?

im leaning towards the harbor freight notcher due to price?

plasma ?

anyone in sactown area have one they are willing to

I have the HF unit. Go to Pirate4x4 for a ton of discussion about it. Actually, I have a mill and I use a flycutter to mite.

I used the HF notcher for my cage, and well, it did the job just not 100% perfect. Now the shaft is a little bit bent causing the hole saw to wobble. So I'd say its decent for the price just don't expect it to last a long time.

i plan on building a temporary table in the alley behind my two garages to mount my chop saw to, and to mount a notcher to. going to do 3 installments of 60 ft of 1.5" .120 DOM.
i am hoping i get most of it done with the first 120ft and not end up needing much more after that but my measurements and plans are around 120-140 ft.

the last time i notched tube i used a neighbors shop and just used his plasma to notch it. it worked good. he was an old time hod rod builder. measure 9 times cut once. im more like cut 9 times measure once since im an impatient spaz.

it seems like the HF notcher is cheaper/easier route for the short run, but ill keep my eyes open for a deal on a baileigh for the long run.
