Weekend is over...what did you get done?

Hiking 11 miles on Sunday. My friend still doesn't think snake boots are a good idea, even after nearly getting bit twice. The rattlesnake he even reached down and said "hey look at the dead chipmunk" while I'm screaming at him to back up because the snake that just killed it was 3" away. The last picture is the 3+ foot copperhead he nearly stepped on, it blends in really well

Holy crap where is it?

Had some vibration and what sounded like sandpaper rubbing together when I drove the Jeep, even in 2wd. Had some concerns about the noise I was hearing in 4wd back at the Crawl. Took my drive shaft out and the rubbing noise and vibes went away.

Took the shaft to a drive shaft shop this week and they found that the slip joint had come off and been put back on "off camber" meaning the u-joint caps on that joint were not lined up with the caps on the double cardin. They also found one of the u-joints in the double cardin was starting to come apart. I was never aware of the required lining up of caps, and they explained that when they are not lined up the joints cause vibration because they are working against each other.

I had them service the shaft - $45 - to include a new joint, reposition the slip yoke, and grease the CV ball inside the dc joint. Figured it was going to be at least $30 for a joint to do it myself anyway, so why not. Got it installed last night and will take a little test run this afternoon. Hope that solved all my problems. Really don't want to get into gear issues!

It's very well camouflaged, and he was moving very fast so was hard to get a clear picture

That's a good price actually. U-joints run about $10-15 for off the shelf cheapo ones, and the centering ball assembly runs anywhere from $50-70 from my experience. Plus your time to do all the work, or labor if somebody else does it.

True story.

Built this the other day for a friend:

Drove by and looked at this house today. Needs some love but I'm not sure how much and if it's worth the price for a good flip. 2125 square feet, 3bd, 2.5 bath, 2.2 acres, pretty nice little area of the county. Worried about the wood rot. Depending on what the inside looks like, I think it's worth an offer.

Got my new tags today. Pretty excited.

Then I got to thinking about the guy that made them and started to wonder what he's in for and if he has a shot at parole....

Make sure to look closely around the sides and bottom of the dormer windows. My parents just sold a house with identical looking dormer windows and that was one of the areas that had to be repaired.

I hoped you jumped into the non-existent pool and pretended to swim. I would have.

Showed the ST with some friends this weekend for Autofair over at the Speedway, and took home a trophy for best specialty in the group. Had crap weather the whole weekend, 60's and rain almost non stop. This is my 4th time showing in this event, and the downside is we have to be there very early to set up before they open the doors to the public. That means up at 5:30am both Saturday and Sunday and inside the track by 6:30am.

I could use a weekend for my weekend.

Isn't your car bone stock?

Also, SCREW RAIN!

Went camping... in the rain.

Put the truck to work this weekend. Moved people around to different barracks and one newly wed couple off post. Saturday I got another load of mulch for the community garden at church, fixed a shed wall, installed a taller section of fence for the playground, and repaired another.

Spare tire fell off from under the bed of my truck this morning while I was going 60 mph. Thankfully it didn't hit anyone, I just had to walk 200 ft out into a muddy field to get it. One more thing on the infinite list of junk to fix
