Weekend is over...what did you get done?

Our local Ace Hardware sells Craftsman tools, and they're a whole lot closer to us than Sears. But oddly enough I NEVER think to see if they'll swap broken tools, and I always end up at Sears lol

Same thing there. I have a basic socket set that stays in my Jeep. Craftsman. Both the 1/4 drive ratchet and the 3/8 drive ratchet are busted. I need to return them.

I recently bought a much larger ratchet set from Lowes (Kobalt) and they seem to be much better. Fairly priced too. Bought the 1xx piece set for $99 on sale.

Yup, about what I paid for mine too. I also stocked up on a bunch of stuff for home from Northern on a massive clearance they were having last year and have been very pleased with them as well.

Went to watch NHRA qualifying at the drag strip right behind my house yesterday:

4 wide is sweet! Not to mention being able to walk around in the pits at any time

Pretty sure I shaved a few years of my life off by breathing in the fumes, but it was completely worth it!

Bought a truck:

Then bought another XJ:

Hope to insure and tag the truck tomorrow and then let my parents make a decision on the Jeep. Either let me part it out or I'll fix it up and give it to my brother when he turns 16 in a next month. It's a fairly clean 99 4 door classic. 2wd, but has an OHC, cruise, and a few other little niceities. Body is in good shape minus the paint peeling on the hood and roof. Engine has a lower end knock but runs. I think it could be on the road for less than 2000 easy. Tires, engine rebuild or swap, fix a few leaks, brakes, headliner, clean the interior and I would drive it. This is my 4th current vehicle.

In the midst of getting my track bar brackets mocked up I discovered the MJ's radiator was leaking.
So it was time to bid farewell to the old closed cooling system. Carmine thankfully had a good open style radiator already at my house so I did away with a the 'rat's nest' of cooling hoses and now have a new rad, hoses, clamps etc.
It's good thing too...the trans cooler rubber lines were literally the consistency of silly putty...how they were still holding fluid is beyond me so I cut the hard lines in the appropriate please and put in new rubber lines and a newer tranny cooler.
Also took out the AC condenser since it has been disconnected since before I got the truck. It's amazing that after nearly 2 dozen XJs and MJs I've owned ...it still surprises me how much stuff is packed in that tiny little engine bay!

Got the bumper back form powder coat Friday. Scratched it when we set it on the concrete.... Pissed. I thought PC was harder to scratch then paint? Anywho, I'll never pay for that again....

Saturday drove to Summerville, SC helped put up a fence and tear down a chicken coop at the Girlfriends parents house. Ate dinner with GF and her boys at Carolina Ale House in Summerville.

Sunday drove to Winston Salem, NC to get a motor for Greenie. Left around 11:30 hit hellaous traffic on I-95. Visited with some friends in Zebulon, NC for a little while. Went up to WS and go the motor then took the GF to diner at Natty Greene's in Raleigh and took the back way home. Got in about 10 last night. Kids are on spring break so I'll be working on either the Benz or the Jeep every day after work.

You went up 95 and through Raleigh to get to WS? Should have come through Charlotte. I can be to WS in just over an hour from my house.

Didn't realize that. He was on the North side of Raleigh too. I went up 95 because I knew it was close to my friends house in Zebulon. That guy has a lot of XJ and ZJ parts. He has a thread on NC4X4. I should have told him to post here if he doesn't mind shipping them...... Nice guy. is currently building a CJ8. Had a 65 Mustang he was about to trade for a Grand Cherokee too.

Worked on the new 1998 Grand today, swapping the power steering pump and box with better parts. Steering firmed up a lot but I still need to straighten the steering wheel and do a tape measure alignment.

Also put some new shoes on it in the form of some GT Radial Adventuro AT3's. Good looking and riding tire at a really good price. I stuck with P235/75R15's even though 31's would fit. I think the 4.0L will like them better.

I got a call from my Dad during Jack's t-ball practice tonight saying my Pa passed away. He hasn't been doing well for a while now and we all knew it was only a matter of time. You are never really prepared. Alzheimer's is horrible.

Sorry for your loss Ed. Ya'll are in my thoughts and prayers. Let me know if you need anything!

Alzheimers is a bitch, no doubt. We watched it slowly take down my wife's grandma and my grandma.

Ed, prayers your way, and if you need anything, please let me know, man.

Thoughts and prayers are with you Ed. My grandmother couldn't comprehend who I was when I saw her before leaving for basic because of Parkinson's and Alzheimer's. Best wishes in the upcoming weeks.

Worked on the xj every night this week:

Last night I decided on tail lights and fuel filler.....

Today/tonight I hope to fix the fuel pump ground and start the battery move.....
