Weekend is over...what did you get done?

A six year old birthday party in the morning and a Girl Scout trip in the afternoon. At least the GS trip is to the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum which is cool. Really looking forward to Wrenchfest. Got a day off tomorrow for MLK day so I'll spend some time under my Jeep. Put on the new double shear track bar and that axle is not centered. Have a clunk in the back to figure out also.

Let me know how that mount works out for you! Good to meet you! Too bad it wasn't on the trail.

Saturday: got up at 6:30 and headed out to Oak Ridge, TN to pick up a set of F-250 axles. That was a lot of seat time there and back, and I'm pretty sure I strained my left arm picking them up while loading them into my truck. It still feels funny today. As soon as I got home, it was straight to the shower then off to Athens (GA) for a dinner date with friends. When I got home I just crashed.

Today: lounged around the house till around 1:00 then went to a birthday party for one of my daughters friends. Came home and unloaded those axles into the shop.

Had diner with the GF Friday night.
Saturday got up and drove to Pineville, NC to drop of an old Adcom amp in need of repair.
Worked on helping Tim get the new to him 8.8 installed. Went to Carolina Ale house and drank some beers.
Sunday went and had breakfast with Tim and the GF and now home. Time to unload the welder and the tools! Enjoyed it my friend. Thanks for the bed.

Thank you for all of the help! You're welcome to crash here anytime!

What year and how much if you don't mind me asking? I'm about done with my 06's if you need any help or have questions.

Picked up a new air compressor and saw all. I must be part pack rat.Got rid of a truck bed full of parts so I would have room in the garage. Pushed the jeep inside.

Was an 06 f250? I'm looking around myself

I have a hook up on the new 05+'s for a good price but it's a haul for you.

70's era Dana 44/60 combo, 4.10 gear. Not exactly sure on the year. Paid $325 for the pair. They need a little work but nothing major that I see (yet lol)

Nice! If mine had 4.10's stock I wouldn't have Regeared.

I went camping. Now I'm home. You should have come. (Except Will. He did come.)

Only for a bit. Was fun to ride around though.

Im trying to picture what you did, do you have any pictures? Sounds interesting.

I did it to my old ones. They had grooved and wouldn't let the pads slide so I took the welder and tacked them, hit them with a flap disc and smoothed it all out, and reinstalled everything. It lets the pads slide across without having any dimples or spots to get stuck in.

I got some new to me 39" red labels this weekend and picked up my axles from a friend gearing them for me.

Clean, sand, and prepare the knuckle sliders for welding. Preheat the metal and fill weld the dimples. Then grind them back smooth like they were from the factory. It took me ten minutes to do it with all the brake parts already removed.

The idea comes from here: http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f9/xj-tj-zj-front-knuckle-repair-brake-pad-grooves-924713/

Ahh I see now, I remember seeing that link. I have never had one that bad before although a friend of mine has some that need to be welded.

Red's are sticky's aren't they? They don't look like they are in bad shape. What you give for them?

You would be surprised what I would do for a good set axles. It really depends on the price of the axles more than the distance. I have lots of local guys with great axles..........but they must not really want to sell them for the prices they ask.

I paid $700 for mine from a friend who gets them from another friend at a JY. Come with everything except calipers.

Oh yeah. $1500 for the 39's. That's cheaper than the SX's I wanted new so... Lol

That's a good deal in my book if they are as good as they look. I need to start looking for something else. I want a sticky tire.
