went to hale mt this past weekend and blew the head gasket and steering box... and it was only the 2nd ride in the new jeep...
been having major cooling problems. it went to 260 night wheeling at 1am. course i was working it hard but you wouldnt guess it would get that hot at night.
so i came back and pulled the hood and left it on the truck and wheeled with no hood and it still boiled over.
im gonna fix the head gasket and ditch the stock radiator for a 3 row and see if that helps. and the dd xj needs one.... man it sucks having three of these things sometimes.
guess ill get another steering box.... cant catch a break.

nighttime or not the motor will still overheat if theres component damage somewhere
are you going to refurb the head while you have it down? you should get it mag'ed at the very least to check for cracks, and it may have to be milled...last head i took to my guy needed like .003" taken off of it
Dropped off the fubared wheel to get fixed tonight. Should have it back good as new tomorrow night.
Broke the little tube on the brand new radiator that the hose for the overflow bottle connects into. Probably when I got pissed off and started wailing on the stupid electrical fan with whatever heavy object I could get my hands on Tuesday evening. Not pulling that radiator back out for anything at this point so a little quick fix will be in order. Something of the JB Weld variety perhaps.
Had planned to work on the differentials last night but a buddy came to town and we decided to head out for a bite and some brews. Well he got backed into while trying to park so the rest of the night was spent waiting around for Charlotte's finest to show up and write a report.

is it an all brass / copper one? If you can solder you can fix that easy enough... plumbers torch and some 95/5 solder + flux should have it done in no time.
I've done em (well actually, in my case it was a shredded tube from a friend's fan hitting the radiator after a motor mount let loose) in camp while half in the bag. That was a good night  :gag: uke:
