Weekend is over...what did you get done?

James, where are you buying your BWD coils at? Apparently O'Reillys BWD parts are different than the other chains... supposedly they are like the "Gold Line" or something and even though the box is the same, the parts are supposed to be better made.

there are two lines of BWD/Standard Motor Products parts, but it's hard to tell these days what you're really getting-- Standard/BWD buys from Wells, Wells buys from Standard/BWD, everyone buys from China, and no one makes everything they sell.

I check the country or origin and buy accordingly, but I refuse to fall into the "X" brand is bad and "Y" brand is better mindset.

Swapped out the coil on the Teal B*tch, fired right up. To hell with BWD coils!!!!

Got the 703/Neon injectors cleaned up and installed, replaced the crappy little tiedowns in the cargo area with better ones, and washed and waxed the thing.

I also did some work on my trusty M101A1. Packed the bearings, swapped the right side hub (which turned out to be a 'left' hub, i.e., studs and lugnuts had left handed threads) for a 'right' hub, fabbed a quick mount for a spare tire, modified and mounted an old jackstand, and bent and mounted a handle to help with hitching it up.

Still needs a little paint. :rof:

I got in touch with the guys at ACC Toyota. They hooked me up with three wheels and tires and two hubs with enough parts to repair one of the handbrakes. Great guys, by the way. That trailer is a beast! Its had 2 yards of topsoil, logs and firewood piled until they fell off and loads of firewood on 100 mile trips at 70+ mph on the interstate. Right after I bought the thing off craigslist I used it to haul sixteen 12' cross ties and have hauled many cords of wood since then. She's a little rough around the edges, but she's paid for herself many times over. :greensmok

Here's where I cut up a big oak that blew down in a storm last fall.

There are actually four 14-18" dia logs 6' long in that pile. If I ever get a ripper chain for my chainsawmill, I'll mill up some boards out of them.

I haven't driven more than a mile or so since the injector swap so no real feedback yet. It does seem to crank a touch quicker and idle a little smoother (about 750 rpm).

Went and looked at a friends V6 Pathfinder tonight after it "died" on the highway yesterday. Started checking the basics (fuel, spark...etc). Fuel pump came on, so assumed OK. Went to pull a plug out to test spark....plugs haven't been changed in way too long, so they're basically welded to the head now. Wasn't trying to snap off a plug in an aluminum head in the parking lot of his townhouse complex in downtown Charlotte at 10pm, so started doing a couple more basic tests to try and find spark. Pulled the distributor cap off and cranked the motor over.....only to see the rotor button not turning. I'm fearing the worst....

Tomorrow i'll be tackling an overheating Honda Civic.

That'll do it everytime. I guess the distributor was seated all the way?

Everything was seated just fine. When turning it over with the key I didn't hear any bad noises, so the internals might be ok. Of course, you don't know till you get into it and see.

The thing's got 200K, purchased with 120K and was "told" the PO had done a timing belt as scheduled at 100K, which would make it due for another one...umm...now lol.

well, you're in luck. i think that is a non-interference motor... just get it in time, change the belt, and go another 200k!:scottm:

lol I don't suppose the rotor turned by hand easily?

I wouldn't call it easily, but I shouldn't be able to turn it by hand, period lol.

Actually they are an interference motor. That being said, I've seen and heard of interference motors that survived a timing belt disaster. My dad's 96 accord being one. It broke on the PO while they were cranking it up after it sat for over a year (belt dry rotted). Only thing you can do is put a belt on and see how bad it runs after that. Or spend a lot more time and money and pull the top end apart completely to check for damage. I'd rather throw a new belt on first and see how it runs.

ah. Lack of an intact timing chain on a 3.7 in the Liberty is not a good day. Dealt with that...

More problems? Didn't they drop a new 3.7 in it last year??? Thought you guys got rid of it also? Our's is still going strong with over 130K on it. Was just as clean as could be when I did valve cover gaskets on it back in the Fall...

Spent all afternoon working on my buddy's Civic with absolutely no luck at all. I'm beginning to fear it's in need of a head gasket.
