I did my first oxy-acetylene assisted part out a few days ago. Nothing compares, not even a sawzall and an angle grinder. It's the laziest way to cut things apart EVER.

Minor maintenence weekend for me...2 oil changes, a valve cover gasket, and a fuel filter.

Stump, how well does the Jeep pull that camper? My grandparents have one just like it that I was thinking about pulling a couple hunderd miles... seems kinda heavy.

Ed and I pulled my pop-up to WF this year behind Ed's Jeep. We didn't have any problems. I've also pulled it behind my Jeep all the way to the Crawl and had no issues other than the Jeep drinking a little more. 37's and 4.88 gears.

That came out of the freshly sawzalled transmission cooler lines. The rest was drained...
It pulls the crap out of it. 70-75 all day long. Just did a 200 mile round trip this weekend with the camper fully loaded, myself, my wife, 8 month old, enough CRAP for a months worth of camping, and two 85 pound dogs in the Jeep. I have a tranny cooler, and everything else is pretty much stock on that Jeep. No problems at all. Electric brake controller is a BIG plus with it though. Got 15mpg average on that trip, with 14 miles of 10-15mph forest roads/trails. Pretty darn good for a 220K mile Jeep!
And we saw a bear cub while camping!

Yep, I pulled mine 120 miles to Badlands with no issues even with stock gears and 31's.
As for what I did this weekend, I did a little smoking:
Next up is getting rid of that rusty ass hitch for a practically brand new one from a buddy.

Last minute road trip to the mountains for the day yesterday with my parents. Started in the Brevard/Hendersonville/Asheville and worked our way up the parkway to Boone.
Ran into some freezing fog and light snow not far out of Asheville:

Spent today installing some stainless steel brake lines I picked up for the DD last week.

I was finally able to get my 37's mounted and the inside of the beadlocks painted. Then had a little time to begin cutting the rear fenders to clear and planing out the coilover towers. GD this project is taking a long time.

No it's a Rain Gear LJ cover, I doesn't fit as well as I had hoped. The Wrangler is more narrow and the length is just a tad shy. It works well as a trail cover but in the rain it pools and leaks. Rain Gear is supposed to be making and Extended JK cover that may fit better.
Mine is stored outside so I need a good cover. Right now if heavy rain is epected I put a plasitc tarp on first the pull it taught with cords then put on a Covercraft Noah cover over it, that seams to work the best. If there is light or no rain I can use the Rain Gear cover and if needed the Covercraft cover.
Once I am done with the mods and cage I am going to take the Jeep to a local shop that makes boat covers and have them make me one to fit better. The key is not having places that water will pool.
