Weekend is over...what did you get done?

Wow Chris, that is a complete turnaround!

I pulled the front end apart on the '00 and found a slight problem. First off the passenger side unit bearing needs replaced. After 175K, I'd say it's time. Also when I pulled it apart I noticed the lower caliper bolt was GONE!!!! I got to checking and the lower knuckle hole is stripped. GREAT!!!

Question...can I just re-tap to the next size up or do I need to replace the knuckle? I have another knuckle off a '99 D30 so it's not a huge deal, well as long as they will interchange. Anyone know?

Don't they have the slider bolts? I'd try the 99 knuckle first.

I put an I don't know what year knuckle on my '01 passenger side and haven't had a problems since.:eyes:

They use just a metric bolt that slides in a sleeve and threads into the knuckle. I didn't have the next size up bolt to see if it would fit in the sleeve. I need to run to the hardware store and see what they have.

Yep, I think that will be the plan. Just swap out knuckles.

Mark, just go grab a helicoil and repair it. They aren't that expensive and I have fixed many stripped holes with them with great success. We even fixed one of Dan's knuckles due to the same problem. I think they are M8x1.25 but you may want to take a bolt with you to match it up. Any parts store or hardware store will have them.

Nice Chris! Wish I could see the looks you're going to get driving it through Italy lol.

I tried bleeding the MC by slightly cracking one of the fittings while someone pushed on the brake. It didn't work. Boo. On the plus side, all the fluid in the truck is new.

It's extremely difficult to tint a damn window! I'd just rather never do it again! I've been out there for 3 hours and I got the back window half ass done. I'm not even satisfied with it!

I'll make sure I run the GoPro cameras when we first get it on the road here.

Please do! I looked up where Pisa is...only a couple hours SW of where I was. There's another trip in the works for me within the next year to go back out there...i'll let you know for sure when i'm coming. May even take a few vacation days and wander around some more this time.

I'd REALLY like to share a beer or two with the rocket scientist that decided to mount a shock tower next to the intake/exhaust manifolds on the TJs.....

Too damn much time on a "simple" project-- I almost wish I'd have tackled the clutch this afternoon, instead:gee:

Got my JCR 1ton steering all painted up. Just need to get the knuckes reamed out and install.

Worked on XJ's all day Monday.

Trimmed fenders, installed KM2's, welded on rear shock mount on Mark's XJ, took shafts out of a Waggy D44 front, removed alloy shafts from a D30, and who knows what else. Mark and I had a busy day. This old man is tired and sore. The heat sucks too.
