Weekend is over...what did you get done?

Horay! Progress!

I don't think I'll have a problem with bending this stuff. I'm pretty sure the heim will break off before it bends. I imagine I'll be able to jack the Jeep off the ground by they tie rod. lol It doesn't hit anything at all from lock to lock! She's gunna be ready to go in as soon as I get back from the Gulches run.

youll bend it..... mine is .375 wall chromoly.... and its bent, but i have that effect metal in any form apparently

lol! We'll see. Maybe I just wasn't doing something right. The 1.25 tie rod I've had for 3 years is straight as an arrow. idk how tho... This is a quarter inch thicker and 3 inches higher...

took off the IAC and cleaned it with a toothbrush and brake cleaner. when I started it this morning now the engine races and won't settle down...at all. What a load. I'll have to look at it either tonight or this weekend. No CEL though.

Did you reset the computer?

I did yes. while I was cleaning the IAC I had the cabled off and touched them to reset it. I got pissed and had to drive my wife's car to work this morning. Wasn't thrilled. I'll fix it though.

Try re-setting it again. If that doesn't work give it some time and it will settle down. I've had this happen before when cleaning it and when installing new ones on other Jeeps.

How high is the idle now? When mine did it from a cleaning it was somewhere around 2000-2500rpm

Now I don't even both unhooking the battery or anything. I just take it off, clean it, and put it back on. Past few times it's been happy and fired right up with just a bump of the starter.

Yeah it was idling at 2500. I thought it was odd so I took it all back apart tonight and haven't put it together. Just seemed odd that a clean sensor does that. I'll put it together tomorrow and see what happens. Thanks for the help.

No problem. I've had the same thing happen when putting new TPS's on as well. I'm on my 3rd one of those and both replacements made it wig out and idle high for a few moments. It's almost like any little bit of change to anything and the system has to completely re-learn everything (even though you would think that it shouldn't in terms of just cleaning something).

BTW, don't remember what part of Charlotte you said you're in, but if you ever need a hand or something let me know. I can meet up with you one evening during the week or something after work (6:00ish).

Jeep is finally back together. Going to take it to work tomorrow and put it on the alignment rack to get everything nice and dialed in. A little worried about the drive in the morning, fully expecting wobble.

Dang, is it THAT far out? I've never had DW from being out of line...

But he had JUST got rid of the wobble before doing this lift....at least for the most part. It had a bad habit of showing back up every time I was around :D

Mine has a bad habit of doing the wobble just about everytime I get in it on the road... I try to keep the road traveling down to a minimum. That's one of the major reasons I'm putting the 44 under the Jeep. It gives me the oportunity to replace EVERYTHING that would cause DW. Speaking of which I need a steering box.

Thats why it amazes me when I drive the new one. It rides sooo dang good and don't wobble... at all! lol And 2nd gear works!!!

Who makes that really nice gear reduction steering box? I'll have to research this durango steering thing...

Hydro assist is the way to go.

Yeah, but my gear box is worn out... It's got a lot of play in it...

I've never been able to find a good deal on assist.

At one time I saw something about "redneck steering". It's the only kit I've seen that they supply everything including the tapped gear box. Can't find it now.

Well the drive to work went with out wobble, with a pop-pop-pop. Sounded like a u-joint binding. After aligning it and greasing, removing the front driveshaft, the real culprit emerged. My clutch has taken a dump on me.

^that sucks man. these things are easy to change clutches in. if you wanna take the old one to vatozone and get a free one, i'll pm you my number for the warranty....

i finished my 150 hours of truck driving school today, and i'm scheduled to take my road test next thursday. i start my new job with werner enterprises on the 21st, if the test goes well. i'm going to try to get a transmission for my civic this weekend, and put it in. the car is a pile, but it gets better mileage than my jeep, so i'll live with it until i'm back on my feet.

Hmm I might have to go to the next store away... the local guys know me pretty well, they can a face to a name.
