Weekend is over...what did you get done?

Yeah, I priced the stuff a couple years ago and it was just out of my price range for 2 complete set-ups. and it still is... Me and April would like to get into it. Where do you take the thing? I can only think of one river near here.

You gotta head into the Appalachians. The Nantahala, Ocoee, Nolichucky, Pigeon, and Watauga are all in NC/TN off the top of my head. The National Whitewater Center in Charlotte has a man-made river. The New River in VA and the Gauley in WV are very well known big whitewater rivers.

I don't really want white water. I'd be perfectly fine with an open Kayak. I just want to sit low to the water... I'd rather do more sitting and lounging and floating. Calm moving water is fine with me.

Ohhh I see. Well the price tag does come down because you are looking for a recreational boat. I have been paddling at the lake for years in 16ft tandem. Pushing around the estuaries on the coast can be a lot of fun, you can access various wildlife in the tidal plains you wouldn't normally see.

went wheelin, broke both of my front axle shafts. i never noticed until i got home, because i really just roached those wimpy pre-renix cv joints. i'll be going to ujoints as soon as possible. just gotta find a set cheap. in the meantime, i'm playing in the snow with my waggy.

As mentioned met Nick in Burlington to pass off the D44. When I arrived in Burlington started hearing something squeeking under the Jeep. Rear brakes were grabbing hard so I figured it was time to finally replace that somewhat leaking wheel cylinder i've been putting off for a while now. Got back on the highway to head back and the squeek turned into a squeel. Stopped by dads to throw it in his shop and pin point the the problem. Figured out pretty quickly that the centering ball/adapter flange for my Hack n Tap SYE is kaput. Sprayed some lube in it to attempt to buy some time, and actually made it worse. At that point the squeel turned into a scream. Got to mom's and pulled it in the garage to take the shaft out. Was going to swap it with the front shaft until I realized the the flange doubles as the centering ball. So to get back to Charlotte and to get to work and back tomorrow i'm locked in 4HI running just the front shaft. Looks like i'll be trying to locate a new flange/centering ball tomorrow and hopefully leaving work early enough to get it and rebuild the shaft tomorrow.

Kinda weird when I got back to town tonight and the roads began to freeze...being in a Jeep that's essentially a front wheel drive car now felt really strange.

You forgot the Chattooga. I have a canoe that we use in the South Edisto when I go to Aiken. I use to mess with the kayak's back in HS. Would love to get one and relearn all I have forgotten and do some paddling.

sounds like it dried up..... common problem when the cv grease boot gets a cut in it and it ends up slinging all the grease out.

No but he does! LOL, He was talking about when he broke his rear drive shaft and had your experience.

^ What he said!

Soooo, I got my highsteer arms and wheel adapters for the back axle today for my christmas present. :)

I had enough time to bring them home and set them on the workbench... that's about all. :(

I can't decide if I want to run Goferit inserts or use the taper that I have and taper the hole. The arms I got have a straight hole thru them for bolts. I'll have to see what size the hole is...

put a heater core and evaporator core in my wife's 01 cherokee. this one actually went a lot better than the last one i did. still sucked though!

this one's about a week old but here it is. finally got "jee" put back together after sitting on jackstands in the shop for about three weeks. i swapped out the rear 8.25 for an 8.8 with 4.88s. also swapped the front disco 30 out for a non disco hp 30 with matching 4.88s. built a rear upper shock mount so i wouldn't have to buy new shocks. i put 4" springs, shocks, and rusty's adj. lowers in front. for the rear i added another stock xj main leaf for additional strength and put in 1.5" blocks and 2" shackles. and i know, i know, blocks and shackles on stock springs isn't exactly the best way to do it. but i already had the blocks and besides it turned out pretty good. the extra main leaf added just enough strength. it still rides good too. thanks to shaggybob and andy for the help.

Hey! Someone stole your dash!

That looks like a fun job.

no, not really. when i put the heater core in the other 01 we had, i swore i'd sell this one before i put one in it. damn this economy.

WOW~ dude! That looks like a job!

question: My wifes jeep runs a 5" lift and 32s.. full flex they rub the flares but nothing like tearing them out rub but they are stock. Never been cut, moved or anything.
The 5" lift on a stock flared xj looks like its barely lifted..
Should i leave it as is, or "raise the flares"?

heres how she looks now:
this picture is when it had a d35.. it has a d44 now so the back end sits up a bit more..
