Weekend is over...what did you get done?

Got back to the Good Ol' U.S. of A. on Monday. Glad to be home from Iraq. And really glad to have my jeep back with it's newly installed SYE, HP30 w/4.10's and aussie, and some other things. But I took it to firestone to get an alignment done last night and they said the front was way out and it is now in spec but the rear is out of alignment and they can't fix that. Here's what gets me though...I took some rough measurements from the center of the axle back to the shackle mounting point on the frame rail and it's exactly the same on both sides. Is there something else I should be measuring? They told me that the passenger side wheel was further forward than the driver's side wheel. But based on my measurements they are equal. Anyway...I'm ranting...feel free to comment...

FWIW, I don't like firestone. There's only two places in town that I would let touch the suspension on my vehicles.

1. Kennedy Bros - they have a shop on Highway 76 by Exit 11
2. All American Alignment - they are on College street close to APSU

Yeah I've kinda been leery of firestone in the past but with the lifetime alignment deal I couldn't really say no.

IF ou ever have a Firestone tire Question and want the straight dope pm 00Classic. He use to work with me but he works for Firestone now and has a sweet '00 Classic xj and is a hell of a nice guy.

It's off center! :-P

Do you like the difference?

How well did it work with the ram at a different angle than the tie rod in the first set-up?

The double ended ram turns faster and smoother. The single ended ram worked great for about 3 years. But it works much better with the ram mounted on the same plan as the tie rod.

Looking good Larry!

Looks like it's beefy enough for you to bash without problems.

just installed my HIDs with built in wiring harness as well as some ipf housings.... guess we will see tonight how they do.

finished the back flush on my heater core. So far, it seems to have made a difference. We will see when it cools down more and I run it from cold to running temp and then turn on the defrost will be the true test.

Drove to Louisville to drop off a roof rack for XJStryker. We met at basspro shops and I bought some hornady critical defense ammo for my 9mm. Now I gotta drive to work in the morning in slick conditions. This should be fun.

I drove the MJ from Chattanooga back to Woodbury running 75 on the interstate. Jackie doesn't know about it. It's gonna be her B'day present.
I've got a few more things to do to it though. I need to check the rear brakes and I'm gonna swap the driver side door and the bench seat in it. Other than that, I think she's about ready to go. I hope Jackie takes care of it.

Don't let her wheel it too hard at The Crawl! Haha!

I got my Dana 20 in and functioning along with the new-to-me NP435. The teralow seems like its going to be a cool upgrade; my first impression is that it's going to be really niceon the trail. I also tried to get the 435 to walk out of 1st gear like the old one did with no luck, so that's good too. The only issue that I ave found is the shifter boot for the t-case... its kinda tight when you shift into low range and when you let off of the gas and the gears unload, it tries to pull the shifter out of gear. I dont think it will be an issue once the boot gets warm and more stretchy though. Worse case I'll take the boot off and run it without one like I was doing with the D18. Unfortunately I wasn't able to make a front driveshaft, the DOM needs to be opened up some for the yokes to fit in. The rear turned out to be the exact same length as before, so I was able to throw it temporarily. Hopefully I'll be able to take the tube over to a machine shop tomorrow and get it reamed so I can build my shafts. I also need to take it to the exhaust shop and get the muffler put back on. I had to take it off to do the swap and it needs the pipe bent a little different in order for it to fit with the centered rear output of the 20. But... I think Im going to wait for a warmer day to do that! We have a projected high of a whopping 26 degrees tomorrow!

Met Tim in Burlington to pick up the D44 with discs from AJ, then came home and picked up my xmas, a new boat and paddling gear. Got a Pyranha Attak with a paddle, skirt, dry-top, pfd, helmet and pogies.

SWEET! I want one! What's a set-up like that cost?

I got a killlllller deal on my stuff used ($280!). There are a couple shops online that offer starter packages, minimum $1200. You can expect to add some more $$$ for a dry-top, gloves/pogies, and other accessories.

Yeah, I priced the stuff a couple years ago and it was just out of my price range for 2 complete set-ups. and it still is... Me and April would like to get into it. Where do you take the thing? I can only think of one river near here.
