Weekend is over...what did you get done?

Congrats!

Congrats!

I signed a contract today as well going from hourly part time (partly full time actually) to full time salary for when we come back from Christmas vacation in January. I then went and signed a lease on a new apartment and was treated to a $100 steak and wine dinner by my boss. 5 people at easily $100 a head...nicest steakhouse i've ever been in!!!

Ruth Cris for one.

Ruth Cris for one.

That's one of them. The one we went to is called Mortons..located in uptown Charlotte. They've got locations in a bunch of other places too. The steak itself (filet mignon) was $50. By the time you add on baked potato, other sides, wine and a delicious creme brulee for desert you're at $100 a person easily. The big wigs were supposed to be in town from Italy but got stuck there due to the weather. Rather than canceling the reservation, my boss took us out instead!

I'll stick to my $15 home grilled steaks too...but damn it was good!

Way out of my reality range... lol

3rd night of 3rd shift starts...............................wait..................NOW!

Woo hoo...

Well now that I have the engine and trans back where they should be with the new mounts, I have a drive line vibration that starts just south of 50 and stays with it all the way up to 70. I measured my angles and have ordered shims to correct the problem hopefully. They should be here late tomorrow but I don't know if I'll get them installed before the Christmas festivities begin.

On the plus side, all my other repairs seem to have been a success. Jeep runs better and feels like it has 20 more horsepower. One thing that I find interesting is that it now starts almost instantly. I don't think it had an excessive cranking problem before, but it had to turn over 3 or 4 times before it would start. Now when you hit the key, it's running.

Getting more engine vibrations with the new Brown Dog mounts but that's to be expected. I got the Ultra Flex rubber mounts and I am sure they need to break in, but there is more metal and less rubber so I think they'll never be as smooth as the stock ones but probably won't fall apart like a stock set either.

I finished the rattle can job on my XJ.

It now matches (just about) my CJ5 and it is the same paint I used on my M416.

It's BLUE!

that second picture caught my attention IMMEDIATELY, and not because of the XJ either

LOL...yeah the MJ will end up the same color. This way I can pull my M416 (you can see the corner of it in the 2nd blue xj pic) behind any jeep I own (thus far anyway) and it matches!

Got engaged..... :D

Congratulations David!!!!

Well, today is Jackie's 18th birthday and her present was a slighty used '89 MJ longbed 2WD with a 4.0/AW4/D35 (thanks Doug!). It's had some work done to it with some more work to come, but she loves it and she's out driving it right now. A big deal for me was, she took it to the Emissions testing place today and it PASSED!!! I couldn't believe it. I swapped the motor out of my trail rig in it and it had a couple issues. Rock Solid (Tyler) helped with those and she runs good now. I had kept it at a neighbors house for a couple days hiding it and when I went to get it this morning it had 2 injectors that went to leaking pretty bad. Luckily I happen to have a spare fuel rail laying around, so I swapped out the leaky injectors and all was well. I've still got to put a radio in it and a few other odds and ends but it's gonna be a good truck for her. I just hope she keeps it one piece.;)

Well, since I started 3rd I've been getting adjusted. That stuff isn't easy... I guess that's why I'm still awake at 5am sitting in the bed next to my sleeping girlfriend.

On a brighter note:

I did a little work to the axle. Still gotta figure out a track bar mount and sway bar mounts...
