Weekend is over...what did you get done?

changed the thermostat in the chevy and cured the running hot problem.... also put a new fan clutch on it while i had it apart, the old one was pretty wasted..... not bad for all factory parts on a 155k truck tho

Finish your 4x4 or start and finish the Mustang before you try finishing the 4x4. Doing two projects like that will drain your funds and leave you with two unfinished projects and unhappy. Unless you have a big bank roll.

I am going to finish the jeep first. The only thing I might do pretty soon is the gear and an adjustable clutch cable/quadrant assembly. Those are both cheap to do so it won't hurt Jeep funds too bad.

I've been driving it around a lot the past 2 days though, dealing with the bank and my loan, going to school to pay my bills there, and getting the emissions done on it, plus the actual drive home. The more I drive it, the more I like it. I actually no longer feel that it is sluggish... I have learned to just keep it in the 4000+ RPM range if you want to go fast, and its fine. Im kinda having second thoughts on a gear change though because so far it looks like its gonna be getting 25 MPG with me driving it moderately (combined city and interstate). I could easily get more though if I babied it around.

It is definitely asking me for a T-56 though... the 2nd gear synchros are worn some, so ripping it into 2nd at 6500 RPM often yields a slight grinding... Its perfectly fine though when you drive it normal/moderately. The only thing is that I think it's gonna need a new clutch here pretty soon, and depending on which T-56 I get, I may or may not be able to use the same clutch as the current T-45 (10 or 26 spline). I can get the T-56 either way, but apparently the 26 spline version is a lot tougher... so Im looking to go that route hopefully. But that will be next year at best, so hopefully the current trans/clutch combo can hold out until then.

So you are turning your Ranger into an all out wheeling machine now that you have a DD car?

finished up my front aussie install yesterday. took me a lot longer than a few hours since my hubs had never been removed before and everything was all rusty!
the rear will be easier, the axle has been rebuilt before

The wife had a Dr's appointment today and I guess we will be adding our new baby sooner than expected. She said he will be here in about 2 weeks (instead of Sept 28th like originally predicted).

It was nice knowing you guys.

insanity is hereditary... you get it from your kids.

The Ranger is still my DD (which is kinda dumb considering the car gets better mileage...). The car is for weekend/pretty day/whenever I feel like it duty haha. I don't want to rack the miles up on it since it is a very limited edition collectors car. But it is fun to drive! lol. Dang... I've got too many toys.

I finished drilling all the holes in the two sets of front frame/ steering braces and then drove over to Athen Tn to the steel store to get some heavy wall 1/2 tubing to make the steering bracket spacers from. Got to cut and weld them on today, then paint and install the braces. My Rubicon Express front springs came yesterday from Brown Santa; Guess that is the next project. At least it has cooled off in the shop now.

It's still 105 in my shop! Ugh.

I'll trade you.

It's currently raining about an inch an hour and has been since around 4am. And it's 50-60 degrees or so. Really miserable weather.

If it weren't for the rain I would be fine with it also!

blasted weather... it's been raining pretty much non stop since Sunday.

It's a good bit cooler here today too. Maybe I can get some more done. It's hot welding no matter what the temperature is...

Ugh, My job is boring as hell as it is... Now imagine sitting back and watching someone else do your job while you're training them... MIND NUMBINGLY BORING! Seems like 3 hours ago I looked at the clock and it was only 4 mins and 32 seconds ago...

Got back in town yesterday morning, took kid to DR thinking possible appendicitis but was ruled out and DR still hasn't called to let us know what the xray showed. Got back to work on the cheromanche today and got both halves cut line cleaned up, got roof cut off of manche, got rolled into close positioning. Will work on cutting out floor and getting frame and rockers ready for welding.
