Who used to do a run up the coast? Cal4wheel? Jeep Jamboree? What do you guys know about the "trail" they used to run? Is it still open? Any resources available as far as online?

Let me know, thanks.

Thinking about wheeling/camping up there Sept or Oct.

What is the best time of year to go?

I'm thinking of turning this into a two night thing with one night being at some sort of B & B on the coast. This second night of coarse is payback to the better half for enduring all the crap and complications this jeepin thing adds to our lives (like the 4 day trip to Dusy last week)! hehe

id love to do lsot coast sometime

The Usal - Lost Coast Trail starts at 3 Corners, near Whitethorn (about 8 miles west of Garberville), and ends up at Usal beach. Or you can run it the other way as well.

Forget about the trail in the winter...too many tree falling tree hazards, and a good section of swampy mud. Other than that, it's a relatively easy trail to run the rest of the year. Very, very scenic and it makes for a great family outing trail. You end up at Usal Beach and there's a campground there that's on a first come - first serve basis.

I've led the trail run in the past during Memorial Day weekend. I've been busy the last 3 years with an addition I've been building (and just completed), to dedicated time to running the trail.

Search "Ivan" or "Lost Coast Trail". I've posted local hotels and campground info there before.

Just an update,

we're still going.

When we get a little closer we can start ironing out the details such as where, when, how, etc.

Please see the other post from this point forward for future updates, thx.
