under rear seat amplifier?

I am looking to clean up(free up) the back cargo part of my xj, and am looking for a amplifier that will fit under the rear seat. Has anyone had any luck with this? Please send me the models that worked for you.

Is it a Sub amp or a Speaker amp. What kind of subs or speakers do you have?? You can fit a pretty big amp under the rear seats, right now I have two amps and a 1 fared capcitor under mine.

i have my 350watt xtant amp under mine, for my sub. fits perfectly

There are tons of amps that would work, just go to the store. They are making amps extremely small now, you could stack them under there!!

I orginally had a RF400.4 50x4 for my speakers and a 400s 400x1 for my sub, but someone decided to help themselves to those. Orginially I tried to put those under the rear seat but they were way too big... may have just been the RF heatsink design.

my JL audio 250/1 amp fits fine under there and has been there for about a year, along with my old pioneer amp which was there for about 3 years.

no overheating problems either.

I have a 4 chanel ppi 240w. and a 2 chanel 600w. under the rear seat also the main unit to my ham radio and a small battery to keep the voltage from dropping when starting.

woked for me, i had to cut a small piece of the plastic dur to the height of the amp, but for subs be carefull because it has no good way of cooling off.i have a 4ch clairion and it does just fine.

I have a class D sub amp under the rear bench, powering a 10" cubbyhole sub, does not heat up much and sounds great.

i tried a 400w amp under the seat one time, but it kept tripping the overheat switch. whoever decides to put it there should probably cut through the carpet when they install it and give them plenty of space. and don't put anything on top of it that might act as insulation. those things can get hot under there.......

Yes cutting the carpet was the only way I could get things to fit. The amp is bolted directly to the floor body which gives an additional heat-sink effect. That 350W Alpine usually stays under 105 F, and I've never seen it more than 115 F.

The panel is the original panel with the center section cut out. For the carpet I just trimmed up the OEM spare tire cover and wrapped it around a cardboard frame.

its best to put the amp on the driver's side, as the exhaust runs on the pass side and typically the muffler is right under the rear seat there. i have my 400w mtx on the drivers side under the seat. its a big amp and it works fine under there. i've checked on it after periods of long runtimes at high volumes and it isnt hot. i dont have carpet under the rear seat tho. just make some measurements and go check otu some amps at the store and find one within your size needs.

copbait, very nice job on the sub install! i've looked at that spot for a sub before but never really followed through with it. any idea if a 12" would fit in there? i have a sony 12" in mine now but its in a truck box behind the rear seat. was the 10" a real tight fit? also why'd you have to get rid of the seatbelt? not sure if i'd pass inspection with no shoulder belt in the rear there =/ thanks man
