They are, the people that get them typically hold onto them. The 640 Adventure is a great bike in its category and really the only thing that can beat it is a 690 Enduro with the Rally Raid kit on it. That's a lot more money though.

I test rode 3 different 640's before opting to buy my 950 Adventure.

Be careful on Deer Creek Canyon road leading up into the foothihlls, the speed limit is only 35mph lol, i got pulled over saturday by a particularly dick-ish state patrol that gave me $250 worth of tickets

Well that's what you get for riding a BMW. .!.. :D ..!.

So how fast were you going?

I almost didn't stop but there aren't too many routes out of where I was, and I thought I would just get a warning to slow down. I guess I was going 15 over...50 in a 35 and Ive never had a mc endorsement but I went and got my permit last week so I got a ticket for not riding with a licensed rider too.

I can't really complain too much, since I was in the wrong, but it was a damn expensive Saturday morning cruise.

Try having no license at all, no plate, and then toss on a few other heavy infractions as well. It all adds up quick on a bike no doubt

I've been really lucky with situations like that, and booked it once when I saw red and blue lights. I only did that because I figured I was ****ed either way, plates off my other bike and no insurance registration, or license, and doing about 40 over the speed limit.

Whoa whoa whoa. I've never flipped off a cop prior to a pursuit:D

Ummmmmmmmmm, you already told on yourself, on the internet. :moon:

At least you got that shite straightened out.

Hahaha ya I'm glad to be out of those days. I do miss riding but the way they do it a lot now is totally irresponsible. Dig the riding but not the behavior. Good reason I'll never be back in that aspect of the sport.

Just a matter of who you ride with. Just because you're one a sport bike doesn't mean you have to hang out with the "stunt" gang. Just like you don't have to be in the Sons of Silence to ride a Harley either.

Ya but me + sportbike and not stunting it would be like me owning a jeep and not wheeling it.
Don't get me started on SOS.

Its close enough to winter that i decided to start my mild winter build on my beemer. I stripped the front fairing/windscreen, headlamp, and turn signals and at the back of the bike took off the tail lamp, seat, and tail section.

Then i started fitting my tracker style tail to the bike, i trimmed a little off the front of the tail to shorten it up some and have it fit over the framerails a little better. Next i cut the loop and last foot or so of the seat rails off of the frame. I still need to fabricate mounts but for now i have the seat sitting close to its final location.

The seat now fits almost perfectly over the frame rails and under the side covers and im happy with how the lines of the seat match up with the shape of the tank. Im still searching for a tail light that fits under the tail, once i find one ill fab up seat mounts, tail light mounts, a license plate bracket, then take the bike to get a pad with a leather cover made for the seat.

Spending a lot of time looking at this here lately.

Goin for a relative upright posture ?

Yeah, once there is a 2" or so thick seat pad on there the seating position will be very close to how the bike was stock. I changed the beach cruiser factory bars out for the ones pictured there right after i bought it and i have found the ride to be very comfortable. I think i might try a set of dirt bike bars on it when i swap the front end.

The foot pegs are also far enough back for the bike to still feel a little sporty on mountain roads. My #1 goal for this bike is to keep it comfortable and reliable, something i can still take on long trips, but lose a few lbs and look better (less boring) then factory.

I was curious if the upright and forward seat position and rearset position would cause interference with legs and the motor.

No, it was built that way from the factory, im like 6' 3" and i fit fine on it, heres a picture of me taking my daughter on a little ride through our parking lot when i first got it

the seating/body position will be almost exactly the same with the new seat/tail
