Trucks Tv Xj build on Spike TV Sunday

No offense, but you guys are all pretty amazing... They went and kpt building it after the initial "cheap" build...

Except the original "cheap" build was neither "cheap," nor very well built.

Now they're having to spend more money on stuff I (and a lot of us) managed to get right the first time, on the legitimate cheap.

Robert

I think they are doing an OK job, but they need to spend more time lurking here on NAXJA.

For instance, they re-installed the original renix intake manifold and throttle body on a stroker motor, but they installed a better flowing head????

It's a "Cheep Jeep" project. Besides I don't care, I just love seeing them build a XJ.

I'm sure people complain left and right that there is no xj coverage, when they bring it to you, you spend all day ong criticizing every aspect of it.

I am in no way saying these guys are perfect, they have there share of "special moments" but at least they are airing and doing some stuff with the xj.

As for the project, it started like the majority that I have seen here on naxja.... A cheap fixer uipper. Now after a few years of wheeling, many of those cheap once fixer uppers have strokers, and dana 60s, etc etc. So they went and kpt building it after the initial "cheap" build.
I think its cool they have kept moding and airing the show for XJ peeps to watch.

anyways, those are my two cents, you can all now carry on criticizing the show.

Im happy they did an XJ. but if your going to do something do it right, I mean would you be happy if your grass was to high so you pay some kid to mow it, and he does it in an erratic pattern and misses a few spots? he did mow the lawn, but would you be happy with it?

I just feel they could have done a lot more things cheaply. like a hack and tap and front drive shaft from a junk yard, instead of a SYE kit and new shaft. and other stuff like that. Im not upset with the stroker build or even the frame straitening. its the nitty gritty stuff like that, that I don't like.

not to mention the cut the pinch seam! I mean I was on here for no more then 20 min the first time and I read about that!

I'm not saying this is the case, but you have to consider the "commercial" aspect of the "Cheep Jeep" build. What can we get from our advertisers to promote their product and put on the Jeep? What can we put on the Jeep to attract advertisers? What can we put on TV to keep our jobs?!?!?

You want to see a real cheep jeep build, get a job and McDonald's, save for a Jeep, then build it!

This is a show and there are going to be compromises, besides how much SAY do you think the people with the technical skills really have on what they get to do to the Jeep?

Criticize away, I'm just saying I bet there are a lot more things to consider here.

:soapbox:

I agree. There are some aspects I don't like but its a TV show. For someone who has the tools and has been around a vehicle for a while, It CAN be done Cheaper. IMO, a stroker is getting out of the realm of CHEAP JEEP anyways. Who cares, none of us have to pay for it so we can all sit back and watch the show and wait for them to thrash on the Jeep!

At least there is XJ TV coverage! No matter how they build it, someone will disagree. You don't have to do everything how they do it - take what you want and scrap the rest Let them build it how they want, and you can build yours how you want!

Yeah, you're probably right. My excuse is that we only have but so much time and many projects to cover. It's difficult to know a vehicle in and out as well as people that own that particular vehicle. You guys know your stuff, no doubt. I know Jeeps pretty well but I'm not an expert on building one, just an enthusiast.

On the head choice - we had to stop spending somewhere.

Well said.

Agreed. But they could get a 99 intake from the junkyard for "cheap" and they could bore a later model throttle body for "cheap" as well.

Yup, we could have. But like I said, we had to stop somewhere and having the XJ up and running with a freshened up stroker was a reasonably good spot to stop.

All I can say is thanks for watching. I'll take every viewer we can get....... even if you do think we could do much better. Keep watching, we'll keep trying to improve.

Don't listen to all these haters! :D No but really you guys have an Ok show and its better to watch than some other programming on other networks. You built an XJ thats all I care about.

I enjoy the show. Still watching,..
I'm not bothered by the long arm kit, or the use of Rusty's products.(but I wouldn't put a long arm kit in the "Cheap"catagory)

I'm disapointed that the followup episode to the stroker reassembly was a long arm install, not engine install and tuning.

Anyway, the projects are interesting and informative,... keep doing what you do.

blue skies!

Agreed.

I don't care to much about the advertisement aspect of it. Hell have you seen transformers? tell me that wasn't a chevy/mtn dew commercial.

I do enjoy the show :)

Yeah, thanks to things like DVR the "smart" move in advertising is to integrate products into a show or movie. That way you are forced to watch the commercial. I was watching Wheel of Fortune (exciting, I know) the other night and the come back from commercial and go right into a product promo for about 10 seconds. Look for more of that type of advertising in the future. Unless people really reject that sort of thing it will increase. The only way I see it stopping/slowing down is for people to complain to both the advertiser and the show or movie.

On a side note, I do lurk here a fair amount. Kevin is more of a street truck guy so he doesn't get on here as much, but we do value the feedback. After 3 years of this stuff I've gotten pretty used to not being able to please 'em all.

I have a question. When are you giys going to bring that XJ out and play with some of the SEC boys? I'm only an hour from you.

I've enjoyed the buildup of the XJ and found a lot of useful information.

Just do your best and keep up the good work. That's all anyone can ask.

They should haul it out to fall fling! :D

Their show would be even better if they took those silly bushwackers off :D

Lol

trying to help them tread lightly don't want them unknowingly leaving crap on the trail :D
