Trails near Buck's Lake???

Anyone know of any good trails near Buck's Lake? My family has a cabin there and although I've spent a lot of time there over the years, I am sorry to say that I don't know of any good trails. I know the old Jeep trail that goes from Hwy 162 over Red Mountain behind Grubbs' Cow Camp, but if memory serves me, there aren't many obstacles; in fact, I think most 4wd's coould run it without much problem. Anyway, I would appreciate any info...

Where is Buck's Lake?

Buck's Lake is about 20-miles out of Quincy. You can get there via the Feather River Canyon, or take Hwy 162 east out of Oroville and get there in about an hour & 15. From Woodland it would be just over two and a half hours.

Awesome lake, pretty good fishing and great campgrounds. The area snows in for about 7-miles away in winter, but the roads are all groomed so you can reach Bucks via ATV or snowmobile, and the bar, restaurant and hotel all stay open during the winter.

From there you can access various branches of the Feather River (during summer anyway). Great place to visit, I just need to find some great trails. There are hundreds of miles of dirt roads, so there must be trails as well.

I would be interested in exploring routes from Buck's to Paradise without spending much time on 70 or 162.

Sounds nice. I don't know anything up that way. But we may have to check it out!

Sounds great to me. If we put a group together to scout trails, I can fit a bunch in the cabin and can add tents outside as needed.

The Buck's to Paradise idea would be interesting. Do you know of any trails/roads that push out from Paradise to the F.R canyon (other than 70 itself)? Or maybe from Paradise or Concow over the mountain without going through the canyon? Hmmmmm.

I think I have found a route where I am only on 70 for 6 miles and 162 for just under 10 miles. It isn't anything that requires 4x4 unless maybe it is raining or snowing.

I am up for the group thing and have off street parking here at the house if people wanted to meet up and ride together from here.

Perfect!!! I'll get out a map and start plotting some trails. I'm coaching football, so it will have to be in August or after October...
