Trail Suggestions around Buena Vista?

My brother is driving out with his rig this weekend hoping to hit a few trails, and I haven't been here long enough to get a good feel for the trails around Buena Vista, let alone what would be open this time of year, so I'm looking for a few ideas. We're going to have 3 rigs with 33s/34s, each locked in one end and all the important skids and have a reasonable amount of experience (just not in CO!).

The current plan is to hit Eagle Rock/Saran Wrap as a warm-up (July 1st) before we leave the Springs, and will be camping in BV and have the 8th, 9th, 10th and possibly 11th to wheel. I'm thinking of at least doing OCG, and looking for 2-3 more trails suggestions, both challenging for our rig setup and I'd be open for maybe one mild/moderate but scenic trial too.

And on a side note, if anyone happens to be available these dates and wants to tag along (and possibly play trail guide) just let me know as we'd be more than happy to have some company.
Thanks!

the Colorado Chapter is holding its annual event there this year. I'd browse this thread as it is the tentative trail schedule.

I can only speak for the mild/scenic trails. You cannot beat Tincup/Cumberland, Hancock with a side trip up to the Alpine Tunnel and Pomeroy.

After browsing the trail list, if you have questions on specific trails, post them up, people around here are more than just familiar with them.

You are in for a treat...though I am somewhat concerned about the snow also.

Brian, even though you can't make the event, look at the trail schedule for CoFest. Its got most of the BV area trails listed.1 locker and 33/34s you shouldn't have any problems (just stay off Carnage Gulch :D).

Thanks guys! A while back I thought to see what was scheduled at CO Fest for an idea of trails open... and with everything happening recently just had a brain fart!

Couple more specific questions... From some posts on CO4x4, Holy Cross is open until just past French Creek and Iron Chest is open until a bowl at 11300ft. Would these still be enjoyable even if we had to turn around before we hit the end?

And if I'm understanding you correctly, the Tincup/Cumberland series of trails might still be snow-covered and impassible?

well, I *think* that Tincup is right around 12,000 feet. normal years, I'd say it would be open without question. This year? I feel good about it being open but yeah, that doesn't get you very far. I tried various searches to find out and came up empty.
