This isn't for a "my Ford is better than your Chev" thread.

We all know that whatever you drive it's better than anyone Else's. I'm just curious what the demographics are for tow rigs across the NAXJA community.

Voted.

Doesn't matter that I got no trailer.

Nor does it matter that the truck needs work.

It'll tow in time and could do it now in a pinch. ;)

I use a cummins turbo diesel. Love the power and sound but the fuel costs kinda hurt now lol

I've always been a Mopar man, and I really wanted a Dodge. But I let guys at work scare me out of it. Stuff like "Why don't you ever see any commercial Rams? Tow trucks, power company, whatever..."

So I bought a Ford. Nothin but trouble. I guess it was abused before I got it, but I still wish I'da bought the Dodge.

The way prices have fallen, though, I ain't never gonna sell it...

I'll just try to keep the miles down, and nurse it forever...

Nope, not for tow'n. As much as I love the MJ, I just don't think it would make much of a tow rig.

I voted. My old beater truck for hauling towing whatever is a 92 Dodge D250 with a cummins. However, it has yet to pull my XJ lol.

i have a 2004.5 dodge ram 2500 with a cummins ( yes there is a difference between 2004 and 2004.5) i love it...

I have been looking for a early 90s dodge w250 with the cummins just to make another project out if it. i dont know why but i love that body style:cheers:

I tow my camping trailer with an 85 F250HD, 460, 4 speed. Plenty of power to do the job that needs done. The XJ gets to the trailhead on its on power.

I have a M1028 with a 12k winch, its more of my recovery rig since the trails are all close here...and sometimes you need a your rig for the main road.

1990 Chevy 3/4T Suburban. 454cuin, THM400 and 4:10's. Not runing right now and I'm kinda hooked on getting a new tow vehicle so this is a timely thread.

nothing but if i had to choose it would be a Dodge with a Cummins

the dodges have weak transmissions. go for the duramax with an allison trans, its almost bulletproof.

I'd rather have a Cummins with an Allison:D No but seriously i don't like the look of the new HD chevy's or GMC's and I work at Cummins

they do its called a sterling. you can get a cummins in the f450 and up.
my brother has been a ford diesel tech for over 10yrs and will only drive dodges with the cummims if that tells you anything.
im on my 2nd dodge the only reason i replaced my 2k model is beacuse some crack head ran a light and totaled it. my dad has a 91 model 1 ton with the cummins it has over 500k on it and still going strong.

the auto trannys are fine with stock power. the only ones i have seen fail are ones that are behind modded motors. as for the 6 spd manual you cant kill it especialy if you upgrade the clutch.

'97 GMC K2500 Suburban 6.5 turbodiesel. It does what I ask of it and has never failed me when I really needed it. I don't drive it much anymore except for hauling stuff, but still goes and goes.

Mine is a beater lol but I love it. I paid $900 for it a few years ago(wasn't for sale just asked) and have about $1400 or so total now into it. Its a great truck could be driven anywhere.

My had has a 1980 One Ton Crew Cab Dually Dodge that I want to get off of him. It would be perfect to merge my trucks motor and trans into that truck.

My dad just bought an 08 Ram 3500 with the 6.7 and 6 speed auto...its NICE. Super Super quite as well doesn't even sound like a diesel.
