too much jeep stuff in college appartment

you tell him, kyle!! :D

so last night I decide to resume work on the transmission. about 2 minutes in, i split my finger, so i took a sip of my beer and kept working. i was working to assemble/install the shift rails and just when i thought i did everything right, i realized that i had installed the reverse idler gear backwards on its shaft. XXXX ME. so i took some stuff apart, only really had to backtrack about 15 minutes worth of work, thankfully. got it all back together and i was verifying that it shifted smoothly into each gear using the shift rails and that the shift rails moved accordingly when the gear engaged, blah blah blah. you know the one big check to make sure that everything is ok before you start buttoning the whole thing up? well, this was that. unfortunately something seems to be screwed up in the reverse shift linkage because when i shift the gear by hand into the engaged position none of the inputs move. i think i have a lock ball or plug either not installed or improperly installed... but i'm not sure where. i think i'm going to have to take the whole shift linkage off again.

turns out i had it right, i was just confused by the fact that it was acting strange because one of the shift rails interacts with a hole and detent in the shift rail and that's what makes it work. yeah it makes sense to me. no pics cuz my hands were dirty. deal .!. :D .!.

the innerds are done.. gotta press in some seals and put the cases back on.

at least you think my jeep is going to move another 5000 miles. others would have bet less.

one million dollars

 thanks

just finished the tranny... all sealed up. i need to install the bellhousing, new clutch, and shifter still, though...

my stock axles come out tomorrow and the 44's go in. got some other shite to take care of too, but that's the most of it.

naw. i'm just building this for the street

to make a long story short, i took my axles out and put the 44's in. got some kinks to work out (hub issues, etc...)

but now that i'm ready to do so, i'm looking at 3-link #'s. comments? suggestions?

my comment:

ya sure you need 35" arms?

numbers look decent

im no expert but 50-100% AS is ideal, and the other numbers don't matter much and you have to have a mentally ill suspension to screw it up.

i guess i don't need arms that long... i just didn't see why not make them that long. and by those #'s, i end up with a c-hair shy of a 33" lower link, and the upper is 36.7" long... haha yeah that is kinda long...

hard to tell from the calculator, but where are the lowers being mounted? tucked in it appears, which wouldnt be too bad.

friend of mine runs some hella long arms, they drag on everything, he has the same control arm angle as me, similar AS numbers, both flex to the earths mantle and he likes the way mine rides more (probably a combination of other things though)

not trying to preach the whole mid-arm "fad" just putting some info out there.

my old longarms were about 28" long iirc

the lowers are tucked up into the crossmember, yeah.

and in terms of where i want to mount things, the only thing i have a don't have 100% figured out is where i will put the frame side upper
