too much jeep stuff in college appartment

Keep in mind he spaced his out, didn't go right up against the inside of the rocker IIRC.
ah... hmm. i think you're right. i'm going to have to investigate. i have 2x2x1/4 box too so i can tie it into the unibody rail (and probably cut the floor)

speaking of them getting a date with a hole saw, i think your phase converter could help with that. ;)

if i have motivation i'll go cut some and hold a piece of 2x6 and show you, but i think bill has a picture in his thread of exactly what i mean.

buy an extra hole saw so we can do mine at the same time

go look in Starboard's boatside thread for the whole 2x5 vs 2x6 thing for pics

if we go slow we will only need 1. your sig is less of a funny statement, but more a constant reminder.

help a brother out. i'm way to damn lazy to go find it.

more of a constant reminder that i have a bridgeport and you do not?

ooooohhhhhhh

but yeah, i remember back in high school trying to drill a 1/2" hole thru 1/4" plate at like 2000 rpm. ive since learned about the whole "going slow" thing

.!.:D.!.

As soon as it gets nice out I am picking up a bunch of 3x3x3/16 (maybe x1/4) to plate the center of the unibody some 2x6 box for rockers, and some 1.5" box to tie the two together and make some semi halfass boatsides; the "boatsides" part is just so the braces between the plated unibody and the rocker don't get hung up on anything.

Now I forget how much I was quoted around here. I know I posted or PMed it at some point a while back. Time to go searching.

Edit: Oh, it was Ken that I PMed months ago about steel prices :gee: so Ken, just for reference to back then... The last time I was at the shop it was about $5.90 per foot for 2" x 4" x 3/16"; so I suppose you can guesstimate how much other sizes would be from there. LMK when you are thinking about ordering; if you want I could place my order at the same time and have it delivered to my place for free. Then I could cut it down to length and throw it in the XJ and bring it up to you, or you could the truck down and cut it to length yourself... I just plan on making big enough orders from now on so that they will deliver it to my house... It was a PITA to get to the shop since their hours kinda sucked with my work schedule.

i already have all the steel i need except for link material :moon: but thanks :conceited

other progress tonight: dissasembly of the 300 continued. it's not fully apart except for the rear output shaft coming out of the case... i can't get the gear off the shaft with just mah hammer. i think i need a press for this one :( i also stripped the 231 down in a tad more than a half hour. i feel like i could do a SYE hella fast by now. it's pretty much time to start making a clocking ring and an intermediate plate. :D

i still have to reassemble the driver's side D44 lockout hub, so i'll probably do that tomorrow when i have daylight.

edit: I'M GETTING NEW D300 GEARS FOR THE COST OF A FLATE RATE BOX!!!! HELL YEAH! :D

Yeah, cause you would stop by in your truck and pick up steel from my place... or I would drive up to your place?

FTR, I was mentioning to Ken what the steel prices were last time I was at the shop; & that I could pick up steel and have it delivered to my place (if the price range around my town is better than what he could get up near Worcester). Plus I can get full 20 ft lengths delivered to my place so don't have to deal with the $15 per cut fee. Can just cut them here.

Anyway, sorry if you thought I was talking to you. I wasn't :moon::laugh3:

I was waitin to just start a build thread in the adfab forum... I don't even remember where I left off in here. So many things have been changed. I'll catch up with this thread soon I hope.

Things have been done, but no pictures taken. Tonight will be dedicated to garage cleaning and documenting.

Briefly, here's what's been done:
-interior stripped
-engine and transmission pulled
-roof, d-pillar, and rear floor cut out
-made a cart for my mig welder

I hadn't bothered to post anything because I knew there were no pics to go with.

Don't do that... I/we want progress.
