TNT u-bolt eliminators

Hey, my buddy got a set of TNT u-bolt eliminators for his Chrysler 8.25. Oddly enough, the set of u-bolt eliminators appear to be too small.

Apparently they make 2 types, one for D60's and such and then another type for D30, D35, D44, and C8.25.

He had a set of UBE's on previously...he bought new ones to weld on for a better pinion angle for a different lift.

However the other set fit snug and appeared to be wider.

Why the difference? Why isn't it fitting? It's not like they accidentally sent him a set for D35's because apparently it uses the same UBE as the 8.25.

Thanks in advance.

Its a no big deal honestly. Looks like a grinder can open it up in a jiffy. I dont think anyone can answer your question but TNT.

They don't fit because apparently the one's you received are for an axle with a smaller dia axle tube.

In theory, they should manufacture these for axles with the same axle tube size, not a group of axles with a 1/2" difference in tube diameters.

8.25s have 3 inch tubes.

break out a slide caliper and measure both the axle tube and the diameter of the UBE. from the picture it looks as though the hole was punched just slightly more than half way. i bet if you grind the ears off a little it will set right on. atleast it looks like it to me from the pic.

Yeah, he will probably just bore it out to fit on the 3" tube.

I believe his old ones were for the Dana60 as it has a 3" axle tube, correct? The Dana 44 has something like a 2.6" tube if I'm not mistaken, which is smaller than the 8.25. I was suprised to hear that.

Here's some side-by-side pictures of the old cut-off LARGER UBE's beside the new smaller UBE's which TNT sent him. The old ones were 1.5" lift the new ones are 0.5" lift version.
