I watched the entire video and found it to be thought provoking.
I enjoy nature. I really, really, enjoy nature, so much that I was a member of the WWF and the Nature Conservancy at one time.
And I hate what I see some folks do in the name of "Recreation".
I have seen an almost pristine mountain prairie. I say "almost" because it had one set of 1' deep tracks though it. The sign that was run over on it's way to that prairie read "No Motorized Vehicles". How many times have you been out with a Group, and one guy starts playing off-trail? Did you chew his azz out, or did you join him?
Mudding is a waste. You not only mess up the area you're in, but you take seeds and other garbage with you to your next location.
ATVs and ORMs do not need to be so loud. The 90db limit most State and County entities place on the exhaust of these machines is too low. If you went down a public street with an exhaust note of 90db, you'd get a ticket and told to put a muffler on. Why then is it OK on the trail?
Are you courteous on the trail? When a group of equestrians comes down the trail, did you pull over and shut off your trucks, or did you blow right past them?
Do you go target practicing, shoot the crap out of every sign or tree you can find and leave your casings all over the ground, or do you pack-in and pack out your targets and police the area for casings?
We are our own worst enemy, seriously.
Watch the entire video from their perspective instead of worrying what the end message is. Their argument is compelling to anyone who enjoys the outdoors.
Whether you enjoy Jeeping, ATVing, ORMs, or what have you, if you really do enjoy the outdoors, and enjoy nature, you either are, or will become a conservationist.
