these people should be shot

I'm sitting here in Iraq reading this post and I can't believe it. I just can not believe people are doing this. I bow my head and think of the soldiers I have known and will never get to know that have fallen. Then I think of the protesters and It just doesn't make sense. What's next, protest the soldiers that have lost limbs, eye-sight and cripled for life.

Just doesn't make sense.
 
Just be thankful that you guys don't live in Topeka. I have lived here all my life and I have had to put up with old Fred Phelps and his followers for about ten years now. It makes me sick to my stomach everytime I see them or drive by Fred Phelp's house, which by the way he has painted on his hugh house "God Hate's America." and a upside down flag on his flag pole. I just don't get it why don't he just move. Rumor has it that he is so anti-gay because his son came out of the closet a few years back. He no longer protest with his followers because he scare he might get hurt. So Instead he gets young teens and kids to do it, because he believes no one will lay a finger on them and there is someone always video taping just in case.

This question to you has nothing to do with the topic at hand. If I ever saw someone picketing a fallen soldiers funeral, I'd probably react the same way as you.

I just found your statement a bit odd and it piqued my curiosity.

Here in Illinois if you touch a minor, even out of self defense (as in they hit you first), it's your butt on the line for assault not theirs. Never heard of this Fred Phelps guy and why doesn't he move out of the country then?

Here in Chicago I can always find a willing minor that'll go and take a bat to someone's head for a few rocks of crack...

On a side note...

I heard on the news that there's a politician here in Illinois proposing a law banning these type of protests for 1 hour pre and post a funeral service and at least 300 feet from the funeral

a good start or a politician fishing for votes?

As long as they follow through with it and the ACLU decides to stay out of it (hey, they still get their say, just nowwhere near or at the same time as the funeral)
 
What is he, a holy roller with a mistress in each state, an overzealous born again, or an ex-hippy on an endless acid trip who just so hapened to find relegion? Either way, he sounds like a prick with too much time on his hands an no balls to lead his "troops" into battle, but lets kids do his dirty work for him.

I'm just curious why you think that your beliefs are not similar to mine? You would have the same reaction at a fallen solders funeral. What I'm trying to say is people have all kinds of beliefs, you may not be willing to lay down your life for this country, that doesnt make you a bad person. When you stand in front of a funeral with a picket sign of someone who did, I think that does.

I have said this many times before Beliefs are opinions and opinions are like butt holes... Everyone has one... Some just smell worse than others.

If you are on this thread, on this web site, that would indicate to me that we do have some commonalities. I'm not here to start a belief debate, that would go on forever. When I say similar, I am using that term very generally.

What these people are trying to do by picketing these funerals is trying to force their beliefs, opinions, butt holes on everyone else.

I was just taking the long way around in saying that my butt hole says that it's wrong to protest a fallen solder's funeral. So WHATEVER!

Yeah, these people showed up at a fallen soldier's memorial here in Virden. Absolutely sick, and the fact they had their children holding the signs was just pathetic. There were quite a few "F U's" flying from the bikers..the protesters were shielded out by SO many bikers, flags, etc.

Why do these people live in America if they hate it so much?
