The official Xota build thread

The whole "this brand" versus "that brand" thing is kinda lame. All custom vehicles are just that, custom. If it is being built to wheel there isn't going to be a lot of OEM left in the important bits anyway.

Build it, enjoy it. Whatever "it" may be.

That being said, I'm very covetous of the time you have to put into this project. :)

I thought us h2 guys were dicks when it comes to judging us jeep guys, but by reading the second post from that link, it makes me think differently. This guy started ragging on "cherocars" for no reason, then praising his yota. Good for him, but what the **** does he know about jeeps?

Dude, that is a killer job!

Keep us posted.

And those Toyota guys...well..they're showing their ignorance.

This has to be one of the most unique build upsI have ever seen. You are truly a craftsman. The patience it is taking to build this and the attention to detail is second to none. Don't worry about others say and enjoy your project.

Nice to see the XJ front clip!!

Some more progress since last post. Big milestone hit....
it drove itself out of the shop this morning!
Put the cab back on and have been routing and
connecting wiring looms, pwr steering, radiator, shifter cable, brake lines.

The clearance around the back of the valve cover is not too bad considering.

The windshield was removed and there is a lot of rust around it that I've started repairing, sucks!

I'm still haven't decided if I should leave the rear diff. back this far (111" wheelbase) or swap the springs back to having the
short side in front.

So would the foam material go on top of the "foil" sheet?

The foam material will just go on the back panel. I don't think I will put "foil" sound deadener on the back panel first. I will order some more and cover the rest of the floor though, the carpet I ordered has 1/2" of jute backing, so that should be plenty of sound insulation.
