THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread aka North America Home Owners Association Thread

You know better than anyone that this truck is staying all Ford. I will admit, as mush as it pains me, that the LS motors are pretty badass, but I'd much rather step into the 21st century and run an OHC setup. I could easily make as much power just as reliably with a 4V 4.6 and it stays all blue oval. It's a moot point though, I want to keep the flathead.

Okay so BMW motor?

The 4.6 and 5.4 make a carbed 318 look like a great motor

Got some time off next week, thinking about saying **** it and cutting apart the frt of the Jeep. Rather not wheel without hydro as this steering box is on borrowed time. Maybe I'll go ahead and buy hydro to, and a bike.

Gonna tow with a 10 speed? Nice.

Aside from the spark plug and exhaust manifold issues they're good engines, and both of those can be easily solved. They don't make crazy power NA, but on boost they can put down some damn good numbers.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread aka North America Home Owners Association Thread

Just weld a rear axle in the front and a rear axle in the back. Weld them straight to the frame. Then it will really handle like its on rails.

So can a 318, and it don't shoot plugs

No.

Don't cut until you have parts.
Don't buy Jeep parts till you find and buy a truck.

I think you'd be much better off starting with a 5.3L then trying to mess with a 5.4L.

No Chevy parts in this truck. If I went with a 5.4 it would be out of a 2nd gen lightning, but I'd rather pick up a 4.6 4V for cheaper and slap a set of twins on it. Once again it's a moot point, the flathead is staying and getting some speed parts.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread aka North America Home Owners Association Thread

Pat what about a 289 based 347?

Best option!

Its my party and I'll do what I want. And just for you saying no I'm doing it.

Good, because flatheads are boss.

I can't keep the one in my FIL's 66 mustang cool, but otherwise its a damn nice motor. has lots of money in it, probably putting down ~400 at the crank.

That's a 289 based 347, or a 302 base? Even the 302 based ones are pushing the limits of cooling and reliability when the cylinder walls get that thin, you're much better off with a 331, or just start with a 351.

289, pretty sure.
