THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread aka North America Home Owners Association Thread

Most 347's are made using 302 blocks. The long stroke doesn't play well with the short cylinders in the 289 block. I'd use s 351 based setup as a start

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread aka North America Home Owners Association Thread

Just got my solid rear cover, now just waiting on 3 link parts.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread aka North America Home Owners Association Thread

apparently just you.

Me and Bobby-no tow rigs
Bill-still crying over a broken window
Colin-no money
Ross-jeep gets broken in back yard
Sheep-jeep still covered in snow
Adam-no trailer
Anthony/Chris-still building

I'm honored to be included in this list.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread aka North America Home Owners Association Thread

Those were the tires that I almost put on the Honda. But after shipping and everything on Tire Rack, or the local shops, I would have ended up paying more for those than for the Michelins.

I want to put an AX-15 in the wrangler this spring/summer. I've been wishing it was manual since I've practically been driving it every day since beginning of January, and the 3 speed that has puked out parts 4 years ago I'm sure would like a rest.

Ken, I may have some questions for you if you know anything about TJs
Let me know when. I know a few things, especially where to get all the parts for cheap except for the bellhousing... which is a normal old 4.0 to AX15 external slave bellhousing, nothing special there.

So at this rate I'm probably not going to have the time/money to do the 4 link out back on my MJ before NACfest.

Anyone have any spare leaf springs? I sound like a broken record at this point.

Sadly, I can't supply another set, I'm down to only the ones I need at this point. I saw one at the yard a month ago but didn't know you'd be looking for another set of leaves so they ended up getting crushed I think.

edit: apparently these guys do leaves to order though, maybe you could get a deal on just some main leaves? http://ferrarasprings.com/
And these guys do new OEM equivalent replacements, but never used them: http://www.generalspringkc.com/Leaf_Springs_Jeep_Comanche_s/1954.htm
Here's the 4.5" Rustys leaves I've been unable to ruin, unlike the OMEs in my old XJ: http://www.rustysoffroad.com/rustys-leaf-springs-mj-4-rear-pair.html (their rubber bushings are hot wet garbage and they take weird size bushings, so be prepared to deal with that)

apparently just you.

Not even building yet at this point. I have debt to pay off. My old white MJ is still wheelable, but will never see a public road again, that's for sure. It's too janky to even try and get inspected and not really worth towing either.

Hey I am ready anytime. Window or no window.
My red shitbox is in my yard again, assuming the snow is melted by this weekend and I get a chance to take my stuff out of the back seat (random tools and whatnot) the doors are yours anytime.

The 4.6 and 5.4 make a carbed 318 look like a great motor

Aside from the spark plug and exhaust manifold issues they're good engines, and both of those can be easily solved. They don't make crazy power NA, but on boost they can put down some damn good numbers.

If the exhaust manifold issues are anything like the ones on a 3.0 Vulcan I think I'd rather hammer a screwdriver through my nutsack than deal with that garbage. Stick with an engine made before they decided pencildilz 8mm bolts were great for exhaust manifold to head fasteners.

Thanks, I already have a complete 4wd AX-15 external slave, fly wheel, clutch, master/slave set up, shifter boot for the console, pedal assy, and I can't remember what else. Jay hooked me up when he parted out his XJ last year.

There are a few parts I still need, and I know I need to either get the computer flashed or sent it in to be flashed. I haven't looked into tranny mount, driveshaft length, or anything. I also want to get rid of this awful t-case shifter linkage.

But I'm curious about stuff like CPS and will it just connect to the harness, and what to do about the NSS? I'm hoping for this spring/summer. I'm getting fed up with the current tranny.

Tried changing the fuel pump last night in that Dodge. It is definitely the pump, the connector on the inside had a terminal that looked charred. But the new and cheaper Delphi pump would not fit. The pump top is spring loaded and presses down, but the design of the new one had hoses running through it and wouldn't let it compress all the way.

I have a 97 5 speed XJ ecu if you need it, pulled it from Everett's last year.

crank sensor IIRC is the same. You'll need to swap pilot bearings with one for the AX-15, so order that. You'll need a manual crossmember or do a 1/2" TC drop with your automatic one. Front shaft is about 1.5" shorter than the auto, rear is same amount longer

For the NSS there should be a way to wire the trans reverse switch and clutch safety switch into the wiring - Ken can probably help figure that one out

What year TJ? If it's got the old style JTEC ECU with the CPS right where it normally is, it should just bolt in IIRC. New style with it moved to where the NSG370 has it, I don't know how to handle that.

NSS is easy. Once you have the ECU flashed, that is. Tie the two pins for the reverse lamp switch to the reverse lamp switch, tie the two pins for the P/N switch to either each other, or to the clutch safety switch if you care that much.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread aka North America Home Owners Association Thread

Stupid question, I think.

I'm controlling all my relays with the coils all bussed to +12, and grounding at the switches. I'd like to have a status light at the switch as well and obviously a regular illuminated switch won't work in that case.

Any reason I can't just have an LED wired with constant +12 to its anode, and cathode tied to the same side of the switch as the relay coil, so it grounds both the coil and the LED when flipped?

I don't know the answer, but this is for your cooling fans right? I thought about this when I was reading your thread on Pirate.

Thanks, but its a wrangler, which uses a PCM vs. an ECU. I don't think that would work.

I know you have to do all that stuff on an XJ, but this is a wrangler with 3 speed automatic. The transmission is already pretty short, so I don't know if the AX-15 is shorter or not.

Napa lists two completely different CPSs for a 2000.

There is a removable raised mount piece on the wrangler crossmember that looks like it could be changed for various transmissions, but the crossmember itself looks identical. I also don't think they have TC drops for TJs.

ah i missed the fact that you were installing into a TJ. The dual CPS listing is probably normal vs high-altitude CPS

i found a source that says the 32RH is about 1.5" shorter than the ax-15, and i believe the TJ uses a different trans mount like you said instead of a different crossmember.
