Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I read it, just not carefully. Maybe I meant it would literally be a few bucks for him to get home from Crown, asshole.

Hey, what are you doing next weekend? I've been practicing my kicks.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Stop cornering like a race car with the trailer and you won't wear out the sides.

My truck's not cool enough to be able to corner like a race car with it.

I spoke with Gary about it and he had the same issues with bias ply tires (especially cheap ones like I have).

Around town you don't notice it much, but the numerous trips down to PA did them in I think.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Or you could take a few days next week and hang out with us.

meh... Possibly could, but probably cutting it too close, and I'd need to take a bunch of days off from the restaurant which isn't as easy as normal-work

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Yeah, everything will bolt in, it's just gonna involve swapping the harness, dash harness (since one's RENIX and the other is OBD... AFAIK they don't plug together), frame mounts, engine, driveshafts (time to make a new rear shaft), exhaust, etc etc.

The fuel level will go backwards since it'll be a RENIX MJ sender and an OBD instrument panel, ask me how I know. And 91-92 MJ senders are unobtainium.

I'm just going to use the Xj tank too. And nothing in the cab works other than the tach. So I think that will simplify some stuff.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

FYI seam sealer makes you REALLY lightheaded after about an hour of breathing it in

Yeah. Thankfully my tires are still in great shape but I'll be curious to see how the radials work/worked for you when it comes time to replace them.

Sad face turning to crying face.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Who uses seam sealer? $2 tube of dap works awsome

Well that certainly does simplify some things.

The speedo will start working again if you swap the dash+IP wiring, btw. The 91 and later use an electronic sender and speedo, so no stupid speedo cables to kink and stop working.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

So. Not sure if I'm being too critical here or not. but the driveshaft I just purchased from what I thought was a reputable shop has a couple issues.

I goofed and purchased the wrong flange, so I just bought one and put it on myself. went in smoothly, but while I was swapping it out I noticed the following things:

1: The H yoke is clearly a used piece. No big deal, its in fine shape, just was expecting all new parts. the outside has been sandblasted and looks like new, but the inside has some rust flakes I can pick out.

2: There is a plug in one of the U joints that has been cross threaded and I'm not so sure it is going to stay in there at 80 mph for too long.

3: When installed the slip joint (all new parts) has a little play. Maybe this will go away once I pump some grease in there though.

Not sure If I'm being overly critical or what, But the product did not meet my expectations. Whatchoo think Lots-o-post?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

you paid for new parts, it didnt meet your expectations. call them and let them know the same way you told us. they will either

a- be canadian and say sorry and make it right
b- be dickbags. in that case say eff you and return it for a refund.

its a carolina driveshaft one right? why didnt you get a woody?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I'm having the same problem with my front tires Colin on the Honda. Tire pressure is good, but I'm betting it is because I corner like its a race car.

Speaking of which. Just called up the dealership to ask a few questions, then was going to call Honda corporate. I didn't get that far.

"Oh ya, I've been meaning to call you. Spoke to my regional manager, we're going to be covering the full cost of the job, including clutch replacement, no charge to you. Come in and we'll have a loaner car waiting for you."

Awesome.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Only If you get adequate cross-thread engagement. There is about one cross thread holding it in.

Should be easy enough to back out and install properly then

I gave up on greaseable u-joints...I've got a nice example of one on my desk that broke a trunion off at the fitting. Did they install the joint so that the part with the fitting is in compression instead of tension?

I don't know if that really makes a difference, but I read it on the internet once

I tried. the threads are too goofed up. I could try to chase them, but I fear I would remove too much thread and have nothing to bite. They actually are just plugs, not grease fittings. Each joint has greasable caps instead.

Not sure about compression and tension . The both face away from the H yoke. whatever that tells you. And everything is spicer 1350 stuff.
