THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

From all the jacking I did waiting for you.

It wasn't an isolated hit that did it. Its just from all the abuse it took over the whole trip. It hard to keep a firm grip, and hold full throttle at full right hand lock.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Colin needs boggers for his truck.

I learned not to cheap out and use krylon clear over duplicolor. Frt fenders are basicly garbage. Used the duplicolor clear on the back of the jeep and it looks great

Were were laughing that I should have bolted on the creepies from the MJ.

Yeah I just get rustoleum hammered black or whatever. It's nice having a black MJ. I use the same paint for everything.

ohhh, so that's what was going on with that snapchat

and yeah your chainsaw is gay. What did you expect? :)

Yup

Meh, when it runs it works fine, which it had done for 6 years without a problem.. I don't go logging or anything retarded. Just cutting some brush out of the way and some small trees.

That explains my confusion. I could have told you plowing dirt with that was not going to work well.... ;)
How bad is the truck? From the vid it looks pretty buried on the driver's (fat guy) side.

Ethanol kills the baffles and diaphragms if stored with fuel for a long time (read 2 months+).

I know that feeling. Still got to dig that trench for pipe next to that section of my driveway.

It was working decent until I sank actually, I was surprised too. I didn't realize his backyard was a swamp. Took a good chunk out of a mound and then plop .

Truck is totally fine. Just tugged it backwards and power washed it on the way home.

Yeah I had it stored for a good amount of time with stabilizer in it, and the carb didn't look too bad, but I bet the metering valve orifices are all gummed up like the lawnmower was.

My Saturday went pretty similar.
Went to do the driver's wheel bearing (with only 28K on it mind you on a Timken hub, trying a Moog this time.) FYI, Colin you were right the nut torque is 177 ft-lbs no idea WTH I was thinking...

Go to AutoZone to get a wheel bearing and see if they will pricematch RockAuto ($139 vs $289) the convo goes like this:
"RockAuto is the only place we don't price match too"
"That's ok. Amazon has it for $151 and it'll save me the wait"
"Nope, we can't do that either."
"Sure, ok how about Summit Racing has it for the same $151?"
"Sorry, no."
"Oh, I thought RockAuto was the only place you didn't match?"
"Well, let me see if I can help you get to the price, how about a free bottle of Lucus fuel stabilizer?"
"No, Thank you, I'll pass that's still a huge difference"

Now I'm not one of those entitled brats that thinks everything should go my way but if you tell me you can't price match only one store, mean that. So I head to Advance Auto and the manager behind the counter goes, "No problem." Price matches it and I'm on my way in under 5 minutes.

Get home get everything apart to find the brakes shot. Trip back to the store gets me brakes and I wrap up the driver's side. Go to do the pass side and find that hub also has slop (to be expected I guess with 101K miles of the OEM), back to the parts store see a different fellow who also has no problem with the price match of the hub. Thankfully it came apart ok and didn't fight me the whole time.

The rest of the weekend I played in the dirt with the 4 wheeled orange trowel.

Yeah I hate that price match BS. "We price match only to the other stores that have the same price as ours".

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

There has to be some crazy markup somewhere along the line for parts stores to charge what they do.

For example, 02 sensors for my truck on rockauto, $21.xx
From the parts store we use at work, $62.xx

Same part number and all.

On a couple occasions I bought the part from the parts store, installed it, then bought the same part off rockauto and returned it to the parts store. That's not a dick move right?

The only reason I go to parts stores anymore is if I need it RIGHT NOW.

I do that.

I do that too. They are getting the same thing back that they sold me, so I don't see a problem with it.

I suspect the higher price is a mix of "because we can, where else are you gonna get a wheel bearing today?" and the fact that operating a chain of brick and mortar stores costs money and operating a few dozen warehouses, then spreading my order between them if I dare to order more than 5 parts at a time costs less money.

(I have actually had 5 parts in my cart, one warehouse, then added one more and 2 more warehouses showed up. They moved something I was previously ordering from the same warehouse as everything else to a different one all by itself just for shits and giggles. When I asked them WTF was up with that they gave me the boilerplate "use the 'choose brand for me to minimize cost' feature!" excuse.)

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

AAP tends to have very good prices if you buy online for pickup in store or ship to home, and they typically have coupon codes available for a substantial discount. I paid $68.xx recently after a coupon code for a Magnaflow muffler which shipped for free, which was a bunch cheaper than anywhere else I could find it online.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

yea AAP's coupons are awesome. I've stepped outside, ordered something online with my phone, then walked back in and picked it up 30 seconds later for 30% cheaper.

I have literally spent hours shuffling between parts to get them from one warehouse and save shipping.

These days time is money, so F it. I'm still coming in 50% under local parts store with the retarded shipping.

Pretty sweet Mark!
Not sure you'd get me swimming in and around those wrecks though.
Ya, that was what the whole trip was based around, it was a wreck trip to Beaufort, NC. Such amazing ships underwater, so surreal and interesting. Being able to explore at any depth is a pretty cool part of diving.

first and stuff.

cool video mark.
Mark, that video is badass. Looks awesome.
Thanks, my friend took that while I swam around in it. It was so awesome. I did have my gopro strapped to my waist to get some POV shots, and it came out pretty awesome, but I won't be getting to those for a while.

very cool vid. watched that on the facebookz. I'm sure that's something you've had on your list of diving to-do's for a while now...

Thanks, and it was one of my top to-do's for a while. I love shipwrecks and I love sharks, and when I found out that sharks swim through the wrecks in NC, all I wanted to do was swim with sharks inside of wrecks. I was so pumped when I saw the shark in there. That wreck was amazing.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Quick stopover in Charlotte airport before traveling onto St. Louis. Have a meeting there tomorrow with a company that makes one of the most terrifying machines I've ever seen. Can't wait to stand 6 feet away from imminent death and figure out why this thing is cracking gearbox housings.

(actually I already know why, it has a shit-ton of vibration and their current gearbox supplier has a crappy design for how their motor mounts, but they want me to come look at it anyway)

Never been to St. Louis before, been past it on the way back from the Hammers last year, but it should be a good trip.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

P.S. Wtf is up with bringing a pet on board in some kinda carryon bag? My flight is delayed by at least a half hour and this woman has a cat in a mesh bag. I can only imagine how long that thing can go without pissing or shitting. And apparently it only has 3 legs.

Pretty sure she's nowhere near me but she's done a good job of creating a radius of about 3 seats around her in the waiting area. Flight is only 2 hours but goddamn if I wanna spend it sitting next to a caged cat that's been immobile for a few hours already.

Do they send that thing through the x-ray scanners too?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread
