THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I was pretty aware it was going to leak before I even drove it. I squashed the cork gasket the first time, then bought a fancy one to replace it. To this day I don't know what trick you need to get a one piece gasket into a 4.0 with the engine in the jeep is but I can't do it because I think the trick is patience and I had about 15 minutes total into doing the install, twice.

If it also has death wobble then sell it to Billy, worked for me.

Those are awesome, another (substantially more ghetto) trick is to zip tie the gasket onto the pan in a few places, then once it is in place and held in with a few bolts that are an inch or so too long, push it mostly into place, cut and remove the zipties and start putting the actual pan bolts in.

That's what I did, still couldn't get it seated in the main bearing cap. Not that I really tried too hard.

well...my xj is currently at claytons shop waiting for me to make a decision on what i want to do. clayton is a great guy, and was very accommodating and is willing to do whatever i decide to do.

basically the lot owner where my xj was threatened that he would call the police if i tried to work on it again today. it was an ugly deal, so the guy from triple a had to drag my jeep up onto a flat bed with the axle hanging by one trac bar bolt. he apologized about 100 times and kept saying how bad he felt for having to drag it the way he did, but clearly he didn't have a choice. fortunately, the collateral damage from the tow was pretty minimal, so now its sitting in his shop waiting for me to decide what i want to do...it sucks that its not somewhere that i can work on it, but clearly its in great hands where its at and most importantly its safe...

and just for the record, if you're ever in west port ct and you want to cause some civil disobedience, westport auto repair could use a good egging or some flaming bags of dog poop

Sounds like a nice case of "revenge is a dish best served cold" to me.

I have a moderate sized collection of shit floating around at my house. If there's something specific you need let me know.

Glad you got it somewhere safe. That's half the battle.

Glad you finally got it somewhere that will take care of your issue.
Time to rid that IRO stuff!

so all the land rover hate can come out. i've been dealing with this rover parts company all week about a brake hose they sent me that is incorrect. correct part number, whatever. aftermarket (read: not land rover branded) brand hose. the axle side has end is wrong.

clearly, one is different than the other. call the company after work thursday ~5 to let them know the part i pulled off of my truck is clearly different than this new one they sent. get a run around, tech guy is out for the day. leave him a VM to call me. friday morning, its 1030, still no call. call them, leave him another VM. calls me back at 1230 and i explain the problem and email him that picture. calls me back at 430, i miss the call bc i was under the truck. leaves me a VM to call him back saying "i think i figured out your issue" and he leaves at 5. i dont have his direct #, call the company back and try to get his direct line, after 5 minutes of arguing i do. no answer. leave another VM, wait. call back at 5pm, operator says he left for the day.

been on the forums and have been trying to just get confirmation that i dont have some oddball setup and finally found out that i'm not crazy. ordered genuine land rover hoses from a different company in VT and the parts dude checked the actual part for me and it is correct. nice they were open this morning.

what a nightmare. i cant wait to chew the **** out of this other company monday morning. sucks i cant just run to the parts store and pick stuff up for this truck. before anyone says to just use the old rubber hoses, one of the end's threads are flattened. i ordered another axle side junction just in case, mine isnt in the best shape and i dnt want to keep waiting on parts.
