They don't have to run or drive if you inherit them, but you're required to destroy an axleshaft with a bad ujoint in your driveway if you want to call it your DD.

Close. I never destroyed a axle shaft in my drive way with the 98. The 96 needs an aw4 so that's easy to swap out and cheap. 96 uses the 91-97 transmission correct? Would it be stupid to just sell the lift and throw on a bb with my newish 235s? It has a 3 inch rough country on it now.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I'm not talking about the 98, Sherlock.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Almost did a Scott on a jetta, barley stopped in time, did learn the truck will lock up all 4 on dry pavement though

you were eating rotisserie chicken?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

To add to this... the NV4500 for the EW0 (8.0) and ET0 (Cummins) engine uses the same input/output shafts, tailhousing, and bellhousing, while the one for the EM0 (5.9) is different. The difference in the transmission order code is that a 5.9 V8 NV4500 is DDP while an 8.0/CTD NV4500 is DDX.

For some stupid reason (well, it's a smart one, but it still seems illogical) the cast iron magnum V10 and the Cummins share a bellhousing pattern, while the Viper alloy V10 shares a bellhousing pattern with the 5.2/5.9/3.9/3.7/4.7/2.8 CRD. Reportedly, anyways. Even though both V10s are originally based off the 5.9.

This really annoys me because one of my stupid dreams is to put a viper V10 in a comanche with working 4x4. So I'd need the engine from a viper and the transmission from a V8 5 speed 2500/3500, because the bellhousings and transmissions are different between the viper and the pickup. Unless I wanted to settle for a truck V10.

This is retarded because you can make more power easily with LSx, but a V10 is 2-3" shorter than a 4.0 and I can't get the idea out of my head.

There was an easier way to figure it out- part of the build sheet was on the bottom of the hood that said it was an NV4500. Side of the tranny had the cover for the PTO output as well. Doesn't line up with what wikipedia said, as this is a low GVW truck, but whatever. Not going to pull it because it was 2wd, but if anyone is looking, I bet it'll be there for at least a couple more days. If I thought that there was a chance it would make it in to the 5.9, I would grab it, but that's a really low probability.

Last I checked TT Viper V10's make more power then TT LSX's.

I am sorely tempted. 2WD is kinda a killer, since I like my 4x4, but...

I thought they put out 1000-1200hp... you know, the same amount those maniacs at hotrod mag pulled out of a junkyard 4.8 LR4 block with minimal mods (no bottom end work at all, cleaned the rust out of the bores, gapped the rings, worked on the heads) and a twin turbo setup.

How much they charge? I already have most of the parts needed to build an extra 4x4 tranny.

Sweet!

Hopefully that Spartan goes better than the one Colin and I did and the one I did for a 'yota 8".

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Reliability and drivability wise I'm unsure of and is that on pump gas

73.5 MPH skiing at Hunter Mtn in NY today. New personal best :) Couldn't have asked for better conditions to really try and open it up...

Came home to find my brake & clutch pedal assemblies, with all the master cylinders & reservoirs etc...gonna unpack all that shortly and see how things line up.
