THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Apparently crimping a new boot onto a plug wire/coil is a common thing for saws.

[chain saw question]
My girlfriend's father recently gave me a barely used McCullough Maccat 35cc 16" bar saw. I know it's nothing special, but I figured hey, it's free, and it's my first saw and it will only see intermittent use. I probably don't need the 80cc and 24" bar Stihl or Husqvarna that a lot of people seem to lust after.

As with any free tool, it's not free. It doesn't run, and I was pretty easily able to figure out why. The spark plug wire pulled apart inside the boot where it should clip onto the plug. Googling didn't turn up much info on parts availability and I know the company no longer exists. I don't want to drop a ton of coin on this thing. Is there another brand of saw I can steal the coil from that's compatible? Solder splice on an automotive spark plug wire on and heat shrink the bejezus out of it?
[/chain saw question]

If its long enough to work with a little, just pull the boot back and re-attach and re-crimp the plug clip back onto the wire. You can usually use a pair of needle nose pliers to open the crimp back up, put the plug wire back in it and re-crimp it very tightly again. If you don't know how to crimp these plug clips onto spark plug wires correctly, do some research on it first. The core of the wire has to be contacting the plug clip in the crimp.

I'll have to look it up a bit. The boot's internals don't look like others that I have seen.

Most times the wire will slip all the way through the boot. So you just slide the boot up the wire a bit, re-crimp the plug clip back on the wire, and carefully slide the boot back down and fit the plug clip back up inside of the boot.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

That's probably what it is. Thanks.

You guys can't have puke inducing LED's or slip-n-slides's at NACfest because NACfest is the no-fun-allowed event this year. Sorry.

The ass pic of me on my Honcho got reported. I really get the feeling it was my Mom or some family member or something. If you don't like pics in my albums ****ing delete me... Don't go threw my albums and ****ing pick out pictures you don't like and report them.

Yeah it should be an easy fix. I was wondering if I misread your problem.

On another topic...running some numbers for heating costs this year. Paid $265 for ~2200 lbs. of coal back in November, and so far am at $150 in natural gas (not including the permit fees for the initial hookup, and also INcluding using the kitchen stove). So ~$425 for the season to this point, in what's been historically one of the worst ones...the coal I have left should last me til it warms up again although I'm getting down to the bottom. At this point it's probably best to just wait and let the NG furnace do more work if needed, and restock the coal in the summer when prices are lower.

Pretty happy with that :)

Electric has been heavier due to the (oversized) water heater...the NG tankless one I have yet to install should lower the electric by $30-$40/month easy, and not add nearly that much in NG usage.

My last place was heated solely by natural gas, and my monthly bill in a winter like this would be $250+. That was all single-pane windows, ancient walls and insulation, etc and kept far cooler than my current setpoint (works well for me because the stove room is ~70* and the upstairs is more like 60ish). So well over $100 savings per month for better quality heat, which should only improve from here once I learn to be more efficient in operating everything.

The natural gas installation cost me $800 between permits and materials so I'll see a nice return on that pretty quickly, especially compared to the cost of propane which is through the roof right now.

I geek out on stuff like this. :)

She doesn't seem to mind the pics of my ass that I send her.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I'm pretty sure Pat now has no reason to go because he parted his jeep out and now he can't have a shitshow either.

Anyone got part numbers or search terms handy for those shift cables you guys used for doublers and stuff on mcmaster? I can't find what the hell I'm looking for at all because I am retarded.

edit: I'll take "push/pull control cable" for $20, Alex

Meh, none of that sounds like anything I'd be interested in anyway, thanks for letting me know ahead of time so I didn't waste the vacation days.
