I don't get how one bad day at rocktoberfest people think all the one ton rigs don't cover much ground. I've had many times this year and last where ever covered a lot of ground there. Can't include a group that doesn't know when to let off or pull cable. Also there was a reason we were all pulling cable up Pete's pass, ask Bill

I agree. There have been times where I covered nearly a whole section of property at Rc in a day. There were just a ton if rigs running the same trail that day at roxktoberfest. More rigs = more time spent getting past obstacles, and more break downs, flops, winch pulls. A group of 4,5, or 6 usually flows much more smoothly and is more fun to me, I wish I could wheel with all my buddies on the same trail, but then you just create a traffic jam.

I don't expect everyone to understand why I built my MJ. To most people it would be a waste for them, and I agree.

But to me, wheeling/racing is a lifestyle not just a hobby. You either love it, or just dabble in it. If you just dabble in it, it's stupid to build something that costs thousands upon thousands of dollars.

I've busted ass for weeks in a row on the MJ, trailered it the 7 hours down to Line Mtn totally alone, only knowing Chris, so I could go race it for 2 hours. I've been hooked ever since and if I had the cash this year I'd be racing at every event. I loved every minute of it and can't wait until I can get down there again.

This, pretty much.

Until you line up on that starting line - not just go watch a few races, not even just ride along or help with a team, but actually sit there waiting to drop the hammer - you're not going to understand what it takes to make it to that point. It's not just the hours of wrenching or fabbing, or the $$ in parts, but it's a complete frame of mind where just about every idle moment you're scheduling, planning, learning, reading, analyzing, re-thinking, re-designing, second guessing, playing things out, and yeah, imagining that day when everything just falls together and works the way it should. Maybe you do only make it out a handful of times a year, but trust me, it's a near-daily pursuit in between.

I do other stuff when I can...I have the band gig and we'll do maybe 10 shows during the summer (our first one is a kickoff party in a few weeks). I go skiing when I can, a few times a year. Travel for work is nice because it forces me to take some time off and see some new things. Usually the last hour or two a night I'll read novels or something. I don't have cable, Netflix, or any of that kinda stuff. Luckily I got 90% of my house projects knocked out before winter came through but once I'm not crunching on the jeep build so much I'll try and spend a weekend a month or something getting the rest of that finished. But in between...I'm wheeling. Mentally, or physically, that's what fills the gaps.

But like Colin said...where I'm at now is the direct result of planning that started back in 2001 or earlier. I know we give people crap for parting stuff out, hell we give each other crap about anything the second an opportunity arises, but at the end of the day it's all good. I expect very few people to understand where I'm coming from too.

So in other underwhelming news...this arrives tomorrow. 11.5" dawg. :greensmok

Quarter mile at a time reminds me of Chris's story about how his XJ passed the 200k milestone :roflmao: always cracks me up remembering that, mostly because I'd probably do the same thing... and have the same thing happen.

Came into possession of a LARGE box of bronze and modern age comics in excellent condition (about 250) - mostly The Incredible Hulk and Captain America. Looking to see what their value is. I started cataloging them and taking a shot at grading them already.

Came into possession of a LARGE box of modern age comics in excellent condition (about 250) - mostly The Incredible Hulk and Captain America. Looking to see what their value is. I started cataloging them and taking a shot at grading them already.
