THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Voice of reason "ON"......
With all of the life changes coming your way, (house, marriage... etc...) I would keep the MJ together for as long as you can. 4 link the rear of the MJ, because youll need the brackets on the axle anyway for the buggy. Heck, if its planned well, you could use the axle and control arms too. Unfortunately, once you own a house and start that "next" chapter in life, hobby projects take 2 to 3 times as long as planned.
Voice of reason "OFF".....
This would probably make sense for anyone but Colin. ;)
Without turning my reply into a novel, I'm just going to say I've given this a LOT of thought and talked it over with Kate a LOT. I haven't even fully committed myself to the idea yet.

I know everyone enjoys throwing their $.02 in and being the voice of reason (hell I do it to you guys as well) and I do appreciate it, but believe me when I say I've been giving this a lot of thought. Wheeling/racing is my ONLY hobby. I don't have "hobby projects".

And as far as the MJ goes, doing the 4 link out back correctly would involve reworking coolant/exhaust/fuel plumbing, as well as the radiator mount, shock hoops and the frame itself, as well as possibly the rear crossmember. It's WAY more time and money than I want to invest into something that I won't be happy with in the end.
This is where we differ and why I probably won't have a buggy (if ever). I've got to many different things I spend time with to justify tearing mine apart.

Either way, I'm pumped as long as you still use it with us lowly "rec wheeling" folks that go out 2-4 times a year. Plus the drive to your house is easier now so I can come by and make fun of your junk pile while drinking your fancy beer that has chrome foil on top. :greensmok

Pretty much

Yup, and I realize most people aren't this in love with wheeling/racing.

Hell yeah. With rec wheeling being only 40 minutes from our house, it's a much easier day trip to F&F for me. And you know you're always welcome to drink my beer and make fun of my fabricating :D

Mark better be coming out at least once so we don't forget what he looks like
Pat & crew will be swinging off each other.

Happened in the science class my friend was teaching the class topic was on osmosis

Student asks question during lecture: if I was to take period blood and look at it under the microscope would I see thousands of tiny babies
Teacher: no you just see regular cells
Student: well would it help if I poured diet Pepsi on it

Meh.... I couldn't care either way what you do. You have your reasons, and believe me when I tell you, that I am probably one of the few that truly "get" that. Your smart to wait at least until this winter before taking it apart. You may get to this winter, and push it back to spring for reasons you couldn't begin to predict right now.

I think it would be awesome to come watch you race in a full tube buggy at RC or Line Mtn, and now is the time for you to pursue those goals.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Thanks Andy. And you're right, I have no idea what will get tossed my way and hell I may not even be able to carry through with building one. But I know that it's what I want to do.

Either way, I'm still pumped to just recover from the 3 year build of the MJ this summer and just go out and have fun with it without working on it much (other than rear leaf springs :D). It will get me recharged enough to spend time building something new next year.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Is that Amherst there?

Yep! Headed back from Mabelle.

So... #housepeopleproblems.

The hinge on the door to my mailbox (post-mounted type out by the street) rotted through, and the door fell off. It snaps back on but the mailman just leaves it on the ground after putting the mail in. Plus it's enormous, ancient, and ugly.

Any cool ideas for something to make a new mailbox out of?

apparently this exists.
