THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Is the one I linked not 110/220? The one he was describing was.

Nope, they have one that is the same as the one you linked though but 110/220 though.

Sell me that Lincoln kid!!!

Make an offer bro! If you're interested and make a good offer I could sell you the lathe, tig, and a bridgeport mill vice for a sweet deal.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

That's it then. He said you can buy it for like 950.

The addition of AC adds a substantial amount to the price of a tig for whatever reason, and for what I want to have it around for would kind of suck a boner if it didn't have it.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I drove a Jeep to work today that had 3 pedals and 5 forward gears, haven't done that in a while.

How'd it do?

I can't wait to watch you strap a 2.3 lima turbo engine to a 9 speed eaton fuller roadranger and put it in a subaru 360.

It's like watching me do things, if I actually did things instead of just figuring out what would work on paper and then forgetting about it.

That would be the sickest driveline ever if you threw in a split rear end. Pure racecar.

I was watching Roadkill yesterday and all I want to do is build a trash rod as cheap as possible and then do tons of burnouts.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

LSX Volvo 240 coupe. Done and done.

Well you got the 'done' part right. :D At this point I doubt I'll ever put an LS in anything. I like the Coyote platform way better. I was working with Tim last week on some plans to get even more out of his...he hasn't even opened it yet and it's closing in on 400HP at the rear wheels now. And the tuner thinks there's more on the table with some cam work and number tweaking...

Part of me thinks a Coyote-powered Chevy Monza would be the cat's ass.

The one HUGE advantage the LSX has over the coyote is price. For a grand you can have 4-450 reliable hp and a matching automatic trans. Another grand more gets you a mint 6 spd manual.

For WAY more then that you can sink it into a Nova.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Bullshit. Every jackass on the planet thinks they're throwing a tune at a 100k mile junkyard motor and ending up with "450 reliable horsepower". And you're not putting a $1000 trans behind that motor and expecting it to be reliable either.

TR tried both of those things the way the internet tells you to, and ended up with sub-300 HP at the rear wheels and 5 transmissions last season. (oh right, and that 100k mile junkyard motor threw a rod too and got replaced with another one)

So if your advantage is "price"...well...that's not really an advantage, unless Sunday cruising is your goal. I wouldn't be building a fast car to sit and look at it.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Do these people not realize they invented air planes like a million years ago? Cut it out.
you win
I just think it's funny Roberto is calling Hennesseys cars garbage when the coolest thing he's ever done is slap a used hot air intake on a 100HP truck with gay headlights. Go eat some more Vagisil while you watch a bunch of retards drive in a circle for a couple hours like they're lost.
your pathetic

We'll talk, I would love to have more time to mess with my lathe and tig but I don't see it happening at my Dad's shop.

Were you talking about doing small run production work? You don't want this one then. Since you're mister fancy you're probably going to want something that I would get when I have a house. It'll do anything. I have 3 jaws, 4 jaws, faceplates, collet closer and collets, steady rest and all that but for you I'd look at something newer.

Plus, if I sell it to Ross I'll just go to his shop anytime I need to use it

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Stop making fun of my Chevy stuff.

I used to be one of those jackasses that thought ls6 cam + tune= 450 crank horse. But thats horsepewp. With my cam (more aggressive than a lame ls6) and a good tune I think I'd be lucky to get over 400 horse and 400 ft/lbs.

Production runs? Nah. One-offs and prototypes maybe, but the idea of doing any of that work for money is a long ways down the road. For now mostly just stuff like bushings, drilling/tapping shafts & tie rods, adapter plates, bores for bearings, those kinda projects.

I can't wait to dumb money into my engine. I want low-mid 400 rwhp. Turbos would be cool too but I don't think I can/wanna swing that now.

USPS delivered my ruffstuff order to my nieghbors house. idiots

You probably want something with a swing of like around 14". You can get spindle bores of like 2" when you get up to that size. You'll see for instance a spindle bore of let's say 1.5" and think "cool that's probably the max i'll need for axle shafts, steering etc etc." Except on my lathe the spindle nose tapers down further than the spindle bore behind it to facilitate a full morse taper. You could do anything up to a max of probably like 6" diameter and 3 feet long if you used the steady rest though.

Have you looked at taiwanese junk? I've used one at my old school and it's honestly better than any old US lathe I've used. Will do metric/imperial usually are gap bed. BIG, easy to read dials, usually come with QCTP, steady, different chucks. Easy to get add ons like lever collet closer. Plus the bigger ones are all gear head. I'd say an old US made one is the way to go if they were cheaper if you could find a nice used one but they're always MORE expensive and come with LESS. Like people think they're ****ing gold for an old worn out lathe, it's retarded.

If you can get a Hardinge, not one of the turret or second op lathes but the regular B type or whatever you want to call it. Typical lathe. Tooled up. Get one. I can hold .0005" easy on one at work and it's ****ing smooooooooooth.
