THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

That's pretty stupid.

What's everyone doing for New Years? I don't think we're going anywhere. Probably just going to order chinese food and stay in.

no idea for me. If you guys are part way moved in maybe I'll come watch you eat Chinese food and get hammered. First person drunk in Colin/Kate's new house? This guy.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Jesus christ, the chlorinated shit?

I am very particular about what brakleen I buy specifically because I know it won't poison me (very badly) if I do get impatient and use it for cleaning/weld prep.

I am probably working on my house for new years. I won't be going to work at all in between christmas and new years, used up the remainder of my vacation time on that.

For years all cutting fluid was chlorinated and people breathed in that shit in unvented places. Sure, all those people are dead now, but atleast they're not ******s.

Lame.
We'll be doing something at my buddy's place. We throw a big-ish party every year. We were going to do it at my place but no way to watch the ball drop with no TV.

You may not have read the whole post I was replying to but breathing the nasty shit formed when you arc weld on chlorinated chemicals (phosgene, chloramine, chlorine gas, elemental chlorine, ****yourshituporine, etc) is very very different from breathing some dicholoromethane or whatever. One kills you slowly, the other kills you all quick-like and very unpleasantly.

But when I started welding across a really pitted area, I found a couple of drops of cleaner that were lurking in a deep dimple. As I came close to the cleaner, a small puff of white smoke popped up, and I almost passed out. I made it outside and sat for awhile in the fresh air. After about 10 minutes, I went to the office and sat at the computer to check the warnings on the brake cleaner can I used. That's when my whole left side started shaking for about 10 to 15 minutes. (I found out later I was having a seizure.)

And that's just the beginning, everything went to shit for him right after that. He was very lucky to live and caught one tiny whiff of a small puff of smoke from welding near a tiny drop of chlorinated brakleen.

You know that it's late in the evening by the time the ball drops, right? Are you going to be able to stay up?

It's ok, I start early so I'll probably win the race to drunkenness. He can win the race to puking. I usually avoid being involved in that race altogether

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

My clutch pedal started to fade on the way home from work yesterday so I took a look under the truck: no leak. So i try to bleed the clutch this morning and all i get is a steady drip regardless of what the clutch pedal is doing. So I go to Auto Zone to get a new master cylinder (Betsy finds it hilarious that there's a master and slave cylinder). I go to put it in just to find that it was made wrong. It doesn't bolt to the firewall; it locks in (it's got a square hole in the firewall where the master enters. The master then rotates 45 degrees and locks in). Well they made it so when you lock it in the reservoir is at a 45 degree angle. Now I have to wait 'til tomorrow at 10 to get a different one. It couldn't have happened on a worse day (weather wise) this year. I'm psyched.
