I drove i95 through that stretch every week '11-'12, hell with that, I'd rather walk. Take the ferry.

Leave closer to 10. Traffic will still suck on the island by the bridges. The ferry is cool and avoids traffic altogether if you just wanna so that but ends up being more money if you have a car that's good on gas.
If you drive take 95 to the throgs neck to the cross island, to the grand central (turns into the northern state) to the sagitkos to sunrise/27 going east.

I started the day by proving my one shitty lazy/complaining/useless coworker wrong in 5 minutes with a pair of channel locks and a vise, and we're about to go do a flight test and employee test drive day, so today is going great :woohoo:

well that didnt take long.
another contractor that my company worked with at one time heard I had quit and called me as soon as they heard and offered me a work for about a week or so.

Nice dude, that's what I've been doing to fund Moab. The most badass part of it a week after we get back I get to go to Hilton Head, SC to redo an 1800sqft deck on the beach. Get to stay in the house and all.
