Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Dude, he's posted about making minimum wage. I know I sure as hell wouldn't try and build a jeep on a 44/9 making that kind of money. If the whole point is to trade stuff around and never put them in the jeep, I completely agree with making the trade, because you can sell either one of those axles for no less than what a 30 goes for at the JY very easily, if you feel like sitting on them till the right buyer comes along instead of flipping them fast, a lot more.

Its still worth the trade regardless, I never said he had to build them right away, or even ever. Where I said you are wrong is parts availability.

This is the bigger issue. Big axles and/or big tires= big money. I realize it's not news to a lot of people on here, but it's one of those things that can't be said enough when you're first getting into wheeling. Everything always seems cheaper than it works out to be to build, and then PM has to happen much more frequently with big tires, often at a higher cost. There's definitely something to be said for 31's and a small lift. No, you can't run with the big boys, but you can do a lot and at a fraction of the cost.

3" and 33's or 31's can get you through for a couple years then you should have a good idea of what you want

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I have over 270k on my original factory clutch now, and it still works just as well as it did when I got the thing 6 years ago.

I have no intentions of putting anything different back into it.

pretty sure the one in mine is original also. 264k.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Mine has a flywheel from Bradley, a clutch from Anthony, and I think the PP came from DBJay. Not sure. I know it wasn't from Bradley because that one was so spanked it had circular grooves in it from the rivets :laugh2:

Wiped down with brakleen, assembled, been driving/wheeling it for 2 years with 33s and 3.55s. I didn't even dare to look at it when I replaced my transmission last summer, pulled the old one off and slapped the new one on :anon:

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

A priest down the road from Crown (who is a customer/friend of mine, and has met Anthony & Adam) has a 98 XJ AX15 with 330k on original clutch! I guess he knows how to drive.

I feel like I have a secretary. Nicole talks to my friends and makes plans with them for me more than I do. And I still manage to screw up the plans. :D

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

hey guys, I am going to put the wrong size tire on two corners of my AWD WJ and then drive for "only 45 minutes" and ask an offroad trading parts group why fluid is puking out of a breather valve without giving any info other than a blurry photo

Some kid just offered a trade, my XJ for his on 36's with Clayton LA's and stock axles. That sounds exactly like a stock jeep that can drive 100 a day down the highway.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

it might be fine..if it's set up right. It won't be economical though

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

usually kids on that trading post offer a broken snowmobile, a 99 dodge stratus with a bad head gasket and a whole $200 on top of that.
