THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

So my next topic of cost-reduction: car insurance.

Obviously I expected a spike since my incident a year and a half ago, and swallowed that bitter pill when it came. For some reason though after a full year of no tickets and no claims, my policy increased again to a little over $2k/6 months. F that.

Progressive is ~$1200/6 months, Esurance is ~$1380/6 months, Geico is ~$1560/6 months. Any experiences with any of these or others I should be lookin at?

Progressive was and still is the cheapest I could find. No issues since 2008, keeps getting cheaper each year. I do everything online. Easy to use website.

Did have one instance actually dealing with them. Totalled some chicks maxima. Cops came, her fault. Her insurance company started calling me, leaving angry messages, I never answered.

Progressive called me shortly after and they were trying to get my insurance to cover an accident she caused. I told progressive the story of what happened that day. The guy at progressive told me "Ok, you have nothing to worry about, don't pick up the phone from her insurance company again, she is an idiot and won't get anything from you or us."

Never heard from that instance again.

I had geico a few years ago when I got into my accident and they were great. very helpfull and cared about me having a way to get to work and school and stuff. gave me a week or two of extra free car rental, on top of the 3 weeks that came with my policy.

Esurance Iv never had them, but a friend of mine was hit by someone that had them and it took FOREVER for them to pay up. but that was before progressive bought them.

im going back to geico now with my burb. its like 45$ amonth.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I pay 800/yr for three cars, two have full coverage

With geico they tow uou where you want for free and pay for the first hours labor if its not battery related, I can't say enough about how quick their service is, got my home insurance through them also but that didn't lower my rate at all

I had Geico for about 4 years and switched to Progressive. Geico wanted $1100 or $1200 for 6 months. My record is not clean but nothing too crazy I guess- Seatbelt ticket in September 2007, Speeding/no inspection June of 2009, ran a red light December 2011, and got another speeding/no inspection September 2012. Progressive charged me $530 for the same coverage as Geico when I switched in August of 2012, which included a $50 coupon for setting everything up online. Paid my 6 month premium again in February and it jumped about another $50 for the moving violation I just had, so I'm around $630 now. I have decent coverage on the ZJ and I don't live in a great area (not using my parents address or anything), so I guess it's pretty reasonable.

Haven't had to use their claims service at all so I can't speak to that.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

KEN, HEY KEEEENNNNNN, you going to the JY this week? Want to keep your eye out for a set of passenger side ZJ doors off a 93-95? I don't care what color, but the redder the better.
There is a red one there right now, not sure what year. Also a green one I know is a 95. I'll check, I'm going tomorrow. I don't think I'll be out your way for a while though so it's probably best if you just pull em yourself, especially since it's only like a 30min drive from you iirc.

On the subject of insurance my record is shit (well, a pile of inspection tickets, a couple real old speeding tickets, and an at fault accident in early 2011, no DUIs or really bad stuff) and I pay around 3k/yr for 3 vehicles. I forget the exact number, I put them on autopay, bend over, and do my best to ignore what happens.

Needs OBD1 if possible (93-95). Door harnesses are different on a late model.

Pat, I can probably check in Brockton to see what they have at some point this week. Sam's in Worcester will likely have the best deal.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Pat can't figure out how to swap a door harness? :gee:

I'll check. Personally I'd rather swap a harness than try and peel red paint off one door and put it on another, so I'd lean towards the red doors, but I'll look for OBD1 doors as well.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I pulled my trailer out today. Appearently I have no running lights and the brakes dont do anything.

I really need to rewire it one of these days.....

What do you think he is? A mechanic or something?
