I cut mine off and welded a bolt on to mount a Bud tap. Looked like shit, but I spent as little time as possible on it. So I guess yes is the answer.

money-wise, it sounds like you are makiing out in this deal. but I effing hate swampers on the rocks and on the street.
The SX's are 'only' ~12lbs more per tire, which is definitely going to make a difference, how much is what I don't know. I can't imagine they weigh more than a 38" Creepy though.
The MTZ's have 12-13/32's right now, with only minimal cuts in the blocks from the few wheeling trips on them.
I would definitely be making out money-wise, as I only have $350 into this set of tires and wheels. I loved my 33" TSL's and would definitely run them again, and have heard nothing but good things about the 36's, especially in the terrain we wheel.
The only major downside I see it the loss of street manners. Right now the ZJ is comfortable, and pretty quiet on the highway. With the SX's it would suck. Not sure if I'm willing to give up that right now.

$2k? What are you buying, bypasses?Chris, do you have any regrets or anything about going to a 4 link with coils?
I just can't afford to drop the $2k on coilovers right now, but I still want to link the back of my MJ over the summer/fall.
I figure that should only cost me around $600 with ruffstuff joints. I'd probably try some stock rear TJ coils or front XJ coils since the rear of my MJ is fairly light.

36" tsls were by far the worst tire I ever ran.
If you still plan on driving your rig on the road at all, I'd keep the MTZs. Those tires rocked.
Get some beadlocks and knock those things down to 8 psi all around. They'll hook damn well.

I think I'm going to pick up a fresh set of steelies this summer and do some DIY beadlocks, should be a fun project and save me some cash over buying them outright.

The creeps ride awesome on the street, come in round shapes, and have amazing traction. I hear people say they suck when the rocks get covered in mud, but I can't think of a time I was disappointed by them.
My only complaint about them is the contact patch on the street. you have to run silly low pressures to get even tread contact. i usually just go for about 80% tread width touching the pavement.
