THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Might bring the XJ and ride along, might bring the MJ, might bring a YJ.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

It's 7 miles from my house. Trails range from easy to easy with some ridiculously difficult hillclimbs (definitely over 45 degrees.) A few new climbs got opened up when we did a trail cut with the NEA sometime over the summer, then we watched chuck comeau beat the shit out of his XJ buggy on them.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Sounds like you are gonna go to Amish country.

Yep.

On another note, **** automatic transmissions. The brand-new, "super badass" built one that we put in the TR Motorsports rig, that tested fine on jackstands, apparently wants to put itself in 1st and Reverse at the same time if you put it in reverse with a load on it. And the "super badass" manual valvebody shifts slower than a stock Cadillac.

These are both symptoms of a torn lip seal in the pump which is bleeding pressure off and cross-connecting some kinda hydraulic bullshit inside there. Not what we want to be seeing two days before it's going in a trailer to travel 2500 miles west.

The old, 'kinda badass' transmission is going back in it tonight, the guy who recommended the trans builder is on his way (5 hour round trip) to pick up the busted one, which is getting rebuilt (hopefully properly this time) and dropped back off Tuesday night, at which point it'll ride out to Cali sitting next to the rig and then after shock tuning with the "kinda badass" one we get to spend Saturday night and Sunday swapping transmissions on the lakebed.

Manual trans FTW. At least when something goes wrong in a crashbox, you *know* what went wrong. And can probably still drive it around somehow.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

i would in a stock application. competitive rig, prolly not.

break an aw4? big whoop, get another $50 aw4 and fart it into place.
they are only $175 on the trading post

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Anyone else coming wheeling on the 10th?

Or is it just gonna be me and billy making fun of pat again?

Ive been thinking about it. I have to teardown one of my tires to fix the rim and make sure the inner air lock tube is still good. and get new hydro lines made. everything else the jeep needs I dont really care avout

why dont you just keep destroying the serviceable ends? that seems to be working well for you

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Not to mention that a manual trans can just be dropped or reinstalled without much drama.

The Th400 in the TR rig takes 15 quarts of fluid between the converter, pan, coolers, lines, etc. That's not coming out of the truck without making a mess somehow.

I would, but after cutting back and redoing the fittings, the hoses are getting too short now.

Hell 6 quarts is enough to make a shit ton of mess. !!!1

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

why would you ever put that kind of fiddly failure prone crap in an offroad vehicle?

I mean, I can see using one that came in a vehicle... but the second it breaks, it gets replaced with a real transmission.

I got so many texts and emails from sad dodge/cummins owners looking for all the parts to swap their trucks to a manual when I had that 4500 for sale. Apparently the 47re sucks just as hard as the 46re and the rest of the chryco autos do (alright, except the tf727, happy now Colin? :spin1:)

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Nicole and I are actually talking about making it to nacfest this year. It very well could pan out. I don't know where the **** Amish country is, but she said she wants to check it out if possible. Sounds gay so I'm going to avoid it at all costs.
$5 says you both go to olive garden for 5 nights instead

I was planing on it but I signed up for a coyote hunt. 100$ for every coyote, and another 100 for the heaviest of the day, and 2000$ for the heaviest of the weekend!

jeep needs some new parts!
