I completely agree that it depends on the person. My folks love to keep going back year after year and I know friends who would go every day if they could... I just like some variation so after 10+ years of the same vacation on the same beach I got tired of it.
I have nothing against day trips to the beach esp if people are going to want to throw frisbees around and shit. I definitely enjoy going and would probably be there more often if the local beaches around here let me drive out onto the beach and if my friends were willing/able to make full length day trips (instead of waiting until noon or 1PM so that *so and so* can join us after work). Oh and I'm pretty sure most beaches around here frown on making fires so that sucks too.
It ends up being a case of pack shit up at 1PM, drive to beach, park and carry coolers and shit 1/4-1/2 mile through the sand since we can't drive onto beach, set up by 2PM, hang out for 4 hours, pack up around 6-7, carry shit back, drive home. Yeah it's fun but if we could get there at 8-10AM and hang out with a fire into the night I'd be there a HELL of a lot more.
