THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I can...are you still gonna put it to good use on something?

Recent posts lead me to believe otherwise, and that was a condition of the transaction...but if you are, then yes, it's still yours.
Yes, I remember the conditions and fully intend on putting it to use. It will be part of an integrated "steering box brace and anti-rock mount" bar for the new Jeep.

The only posts I made that would make you believe otherwise were the one asking about getting a CJ8. I could probably still use that on a CJ8, and if I couldn't, then I would concede and offer it up to the next person.

But I don't have time to do a CJ8 right now, I already have a lot of XJ stuff.

You'll have some beers on me at Chickenfest.

Also wondering where collets go on a lathe.

Ha, didn't even catch that one.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

The best laid plans...

I found out Monday that my turbo never shipped, so I called and got that on its way, estimated delivery Thursday. Also went by the dealer to order a replacement exhaust clamp for the one that busted my forehead open.

Got the new exhaust clamp yesterday, turns out it's the wrong one...they got me the exhaust-to-elbow one, not the elbow-to-turbo one. Gonna go back at lunch today and get it straightened out, and since the turbo's not coming til tomorrow, that was gonna work out fine in theory.

Just found out the turbo is actually getting here today, and now I don't have the clamp I need to put it all together. Bummer dude.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

XXXX I don't want to be at work right now. I'd really rather be installing a transmission since I'm actually feeling great today rather than having sinus problems and feeling exhausted.

You can fill an AX-15 through the shifter hole on top, right?

Yup.

Pull the fill plug as well so you can tell when its full.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Did you figure out what the problem was?

Nope but I'm hoping it's something in the transmission or clutch because I'm replacing all that stuff. Everything looks good but I didn't tear into the trans at all yet so idk for sure. The old clutch disk and PP looked OK and the throwout bearing seemed fine too but idk if something might be wrong inside that was causing it to make noise.

I know (based on what you said the other day) the pilot bearing wouldn't be my problem but that was installed backwards by whoever did the clutch before I bought the Jeep :dunno:

Edit: If this hasn't solved my problems it just means I need to start shopping for a replacement 4.0 ASAP

Definitely. Just wanted to make sure you could even fill from the top. IIRC my buddy's miata trans couldn't be filled from the so he had fun filling that thing up. Getting 10W30 into the trans will be far easier doing it from inside the cabin rather than trying to pump it into the trans from below.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I pumped 5 quarts of that AMSOIL stuff into my NV4500 with a transfer pump from harbor freight.

Took probably 10 minutes, but that was less energy than ripping apart my console and stuff. Not to mention having to reseal that shifter cover.

The little black rubber one with the hoses? I love those. Pumping gear lube with em brings the suck though.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I filled mine from the top till it looked full then I added a half quart shifts fine and makes no noise cept it dislikes going into reverse if your moving forward at all

I've used a pump before too, doesn't mean it won't be easier to do it from the top since A) I have no interior to worry about tearing out and B) the shifter cover/shifter is already removed anyway.

If I were just replacing fluid (as I will be doing on the Mustang as soon as the Jeep is done) I'll definitely use a pump but since I have easy access to the top of the trans already I'll use that since I can just pour the Mobile 1 from a 5-quart jug right in there.
