Avon party?

Last week I got one of those bulk boxes of small Slim Jims to keep on my desk at work. Bad idea. They're gone in like two bites so I end up eating a fistful of them at any given point.

Those are some old (90's-early 00's) Ferraris. I can't see the cars being worth 30 million.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I want to jump back on that whole "coil unseated = no traction" debate.

Don't you have a cantilever effect with the axle so you still have force pushing that side down that gives you traction?

And if you have significant unsprung weight on the axle articulating, doesn't that also help?

Just thinking out loud. I've gone back and forth on that debate.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

The article it linked to said it was probably more than 1 million, but no where close to 30 million. There is no way that one of those cars costs close to 3-4 million.

Yes.

You've still got the wheel, tire, and ~half the housing weight on the ground, plus whatever is being cantilevered around the opposite spring/bumpstop. Plus a bit of lateral traction. Plus damping action from the shock.

It's gonna have to happen if you want a reasonable amount of travel with a stiffer spring rate. Otherwise you wind up with a really long and slinky spring...like ~120 lb/in. So if you're so anal about preserving that last ~60 lbs of pressure before your spring starts to unseat...go ahead. You'll have it at the expense of a rig that rides like a boat and bottoms out way too easy.

Same reason why I have the triple rate setup on my coilovers...for the amount of uptravel I have, the way the spring lengths/rates works out, I'll have more droop than the combined length of the uncompressed spring stack. So I need the helper spring on top to keep everything aligned, but it doesn't do shit as far as 'suspending' the vehicle, it's like 5 lb/in.

As long as you're not overextending any components and you're not chasing your spring down the trail every time it droops, there's really no issue with having it drop out.

Yeah, who the XXXX drive a Prius in a exotic car meet and greet. That's like someone driving a Civic to a Jeep Meet and greet.

It's like you showing up to a heterosexual male meet & greet.

this is why I done keep jars of pretzels at my desk anymore.

yeah, but the cantilever effect has to work against the fact that it's further from the tire that's got less weight on it, so it's not as significant as you might think. Still there, though.

Are you arguing in favor of heavy axles here? Like... 14bolts? :moon:

Take this post seriously at your own risk.
