THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

But it looks badass.

I'll probably run one anyway, it's easy enough to do and useful for diagnosing stuff. Just sayin it isn't something I need in front of me all the time.

I'm assuming you'll be running an MSD ignition box or similar, with an adjustable rev limiter?

Meh, it's only 1st/reverse that isn't synchronized. Simple double clutch fixes that.

But yeah NV4500 would solve that. Not sure if it's enough to make me want to do it.

It's enough to make me never not want to do it.

Plus having 5th gear is nice. (ask Adam how that was workin out. :D)

Probably about the same volume as that. But there are plenty of chargers/challengers out there running more horsepower on stock size radiators. So not sure how that works :dunno:

Are they running a stock radiator in a 10-second 1/4-mile pass or a 3-hour endurance race?

Agreed, and yes. Probably set the limiter at 6500-7000.

The only thing that sucks, is they usually go for about $800-1000. Then, on top of that, I'm guessing the 5th gear mainshaft fix is almost necessary?

There is one listed close to me for $600 but it's out of a gas truck. I'd then need whatever else to fix the mainshaft and get 29-spline output instead of 23-spline (don't trust 23-spline) and I'd probably just go 241/205 doubler like I mentioned earlier. Except for the fact that finding a 29-spline 241 is another $600-$800.

True.

Says the bald midget that wants me to hook him up with my sister(that lives with me).

You are one of the dumbest little people I know. Why you constantly think I'm short is beyond me.

Yes, I just remembered that second little bit. [quagmire voice]Giggity[/quagmire voice]

If any of you butt stuffers are looking to move, I think the house across the street from me is getting foreclosed. I can keep you updated when I find shit out if you'd like.

Definitely... Scott's looking for a place pretty seriously lately, I'm sure he'd at least be interested in looking into it...

For the amount of time you'll spend in 5th gear, I wouldn't worry about it. I only did mine because I was changing from a 2wd diesel mainshaft to the 4wd gas mainshaft and had to do it anyway. From what I remember the parts were pretty economical; Rockland Standard Gear is a great place to deal with.

I have the 1-1/4" 10-spline input gear sitting around if you end up needing one.

Yeah, I priced it out. Basically it would cost me the same to upgrade the gas one for $600, then to just buy the diesel one for $1000.

The only thing that kills me is the price of 241s. Seems they go for quite a bit.

I could probably do a NP203 behind it instead. But the only way is to use a 32-spline Chevy output since I just don't trust a 23-spline output.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

sirius question.

has anyone seen a larger heim like 7/8" completely separate?

just seein all this talk of safety washers and heims falling apart.

ive seen tie rod ends come apart before and theres no way to put a safety washer on those and nobody is going around saying they are dangerous because that is such a rare occurence.

Newp.

I've seen ones that are sloppy as shit, like all the liner is completely worn away, and the ball is still in the middle. Especially for something like a tie rod where the loading is almost entirely from the side, I don't see a problem.

Unless you land on it hard enough to pull one apart, but you probably have bigger issues at that point.

Meanwhile my Dodge chucked a TRE in a parking lot.

This ruffstuff sale is making it very difficult for me to not buy pretty things for my MJ

yupsies. ive seen sloppy-ass ones but never a complete failure. safety washers are for faggots

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

would i be gay if i make a build thread when my jeep is already built? i got ninjas asking me for a link to my build thread. but i stopped doing that stuff like 2 years ago

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I've got a really good memory for a lot of stuff, which comes in handy at work a lot of times. But I'm not perfect...

"Hello, this is Chris, what can I do for you?"

"Chris! It's Lou!"

"...hi?"

"Lou, from J&J. Hey, you got anything on that motor for me yet?"

"...which motor would that be?"

"That one we were talking about a few weeks ago, you were waiting to hear back on the insulation spec?"

"...right. Which one was that?"

"Oh man, there's a whole bunch of numbers for it. One of those little bevel gear motors."

....

This guy spent a good 5 minutes trying to remind me about what we were talking about when he could have spent 10 seconds reading me the serial number off the motor tag.

(and it wasn't even a bevel gear, it was a worm gear)

I swear one of the most useful things I've taken away from this job is how not to be a dumbass on the phone when I call other businesses.

maybe.

I update my build thread like every 6 months when I have something other than 'wheel break fix repeat' to put in it, and generally it's 'hey everything changed about this truck again, don't have any pics'
