THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I got sick of linkage problems so I bought an Atlas. Didn't need the strength or gearing or anything, just wanted nice linkage. Wish I had known about this fancy heim setup you speak of, I wouldn't have needed to spend so much!!!

you can't have linkage problems if your 231 was hardly ever even in your jeep, and when it was it sure wasn't gettin used! :D

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

the only time i had shift linkage issues was when i raised my t-case 2" and clocked it.

so i just made one out of heims.

shit worked mint.

Almost every time out with my 241 and heim linkage has required me to crawl under and disconnect the heim linkage to drive home.

When I was having issues with my motor mounts, had to disconnect it so I didn't grind gears in the t-case when taking off too fast. Swanzey I blew tranny mount and had to disconnect it so I didn't grind gears taking off period. Disconnected it to switch back to 2wd from NACfest due to bent crossmember. Other than those issues that wasn't the heim linkage fault, works great.

I was very tempted to go to this thread:

and post "ITS NOT MADE OUT OF HEX, ITS GOING TO BEND!!!!"

Ok, so, you're generally hero of the nac, and johnny is hero of the Kastein? :D
both Johns :roflmao: lobster rescued me at NACFest and jeepcj/xj let me park 20 thousand pounds of worthless, broken truck in his front yard for most of a year.

Last jeep, my linkage bent double from rust about 100' off the pavement at the backyard for camp UJ fall '10, so I popped it apart and shifted with vise grips because my stupid jeep was blocking sheep.
Then I replaced the transfer case because it got completely smoked. I was lying in a parking lot in 30mph winds and single digit temperatures near Denny's in Worcester, could not feel my fingers, and had zero intent of replacing the linkage parts even though I had new ones sitting 10 feet from me and was looking directly at them. I just wanted the tcase back in so I could go inside, sleep, and wheel the next morning.

The MJ, I had all the parts for the linkages and shift lever sitting in the back hall, installed the drivetrain and everything, and then realized it was going to be a pain to install the brackets with the drivetrain in. And I'd have to pull the carpet up to bolt it down, and that would mean looking at the rust problem instead of ignoring it and going wheeling... so now I reach under the jeep and shift with my thumb. FIRI

The shifter still works in the 98, but for some reason the PART TIME light on the dash stopped coming on. I have zero intent of fixing that either.

Damn you, but in my defence my other jeep did kill a 231 or it may have been the Watkins method of fluids in the 231

Getting Becky's BBQ for lunch. Can't wait.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I'm wheelin in Uxbridge Sunday. If the place is sick enough maybe we can have a place farther east to wheel

That would be awesome.

I've decided I'll test my welds by traveling high speed up a hill with the goal being to get my front tires a few feet off the ground. If my welds hold up to a hit like that I'll consider it good to go. :D

Hopefully I don't tear up the yard too much (and hopefully everything stays together) :eyes:

nice!

I know a guy with 5 and 10 ton military trucks in uxbridge, wonder if he wants to go wheeling?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

you 5 ton could fit on alot of "the summit" in west hampton.
serious or joking? that thing doesn't fit anywhere. well, it does, but I end up doing three point turns everywhere.

I really need to replace some of the bolts for the mirror mounts with pins so I can remove one or two and fold the mirrors in against the body.
